Grab that FREE cash [Thousands of people were last night queuing around the block outside some branches to withdraw money that they did not have in their own accounts] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ge-glitch.html [In some cases, the fault with the online app allowed people who have no money in their account to transfer up to € 1,000 into a Revolut account. They can then withdraw the cash from the Revolut account through any ATM. As word and videos spread quickly on social media, the frenzied withdrawal of cash in Dublin, Limerick and Navan, Co. Meath among other locations, continued until the gardaí clamped down despite warnings on social media that there is no such thing as free cash and the money will have to be repaid. In a statement after 11pm last night, Bank of Ireland warned customers that any money taken from their account will be debited.] Last edited by arista; 16-08-2023 at 12:22 PM. |

they will end up in trouble. Taking money that you don't own is fraud and every atm takes photos of the people who use them

It would be easy enough to claim ignorance/accident but I dunno why anyone thinks it's free money... the account will just go overdrawn, so they'll have to pay it back + interest (and likely an additional charge for unauthorised overdraft use) and since it'll be outwith their official OD limit, they won't be able to access any actual money that gets paid into the accounts, unless they can negotiate a genuine OD.
