name your top 10 all time favourite F1 drivers
mine 1. Giancarlo Fisichella (Fisi was great, especially in the golden days of Renault alongside Alonso) 2. Jarno Trulli (best of the rest in his time, the nickname TrulliTrain was truly iconic) 3. Juan Pablo Montoya (was an amazing driver) 4. Rubens Barrichello (was an amazing teammate for Schumi at Ferrari but did great as first driver at BAR and also was great competition for Button at Brawn) 5. Alexander Wurz (maybe not many points, podiums but always went for fastest laps also something nice) 6. Ayrton Senna (not seen anything from him live of course was before my time but i watched every highlight of him back and he was truly phenomenal) 7. Takuma Sato (the GOAT Asian driver for me personally, and still is in IndyCar these days) 8. Fernando Alonso (currently still the GOAT active in F1 for me, how long he already has been in this sport) 9. Gaston Mazzacane (that time he overtook Mika was legendary for a lesser driver) 10. Mika Hakkinen (amazing champion, especially in Spa against the two ferrari's in the rain, a memorable moment of his career)

My dad loves F1, but to me it feels like watching traffic
He always loved Rubens Barrichello though, so that's my default answer, "if I had to". |

honourable mention for me for the first ever portuguese driver Tiago Monteiro whom didn't do badly and due to only 6 drivers competing in the USA race had his only podium there (3rd place)
which was due to michelin pulling out after Ralf Schumacher's crash in quali, so we were left with 6 drivers with bridgestone tyres that year

I am , possibly, distantly related to world champion F1 driver Nigel Mansell !!
My aunt told stories of how she used to attend the extended family gatherings over 60 years ago and when I did a bit of basic research both our families originated from Shropshire… ( I never took it any further) |

I admire and have great respect for so many drivers, and I also like many drivers currently on the grid.
All time favourites would have to be Michael Schumacher and Max Verstappen. Others I have real respect for are Sebastian Vettel and Mike Hakkinen, who both have great talent and are genuinely decent guys. In F1 currently I’m really enjoying Fernando Alonso’s return to the sport, Lando and Piastri at MacLaren both have great potential, and I also have a lot of time for Charles and Carlos at Ferrari. It’s great to see so much young talent coming through in recent years. |

2 drivers have shared 9 of the last 10 titles.
There's not much competition out there for the past decade.. Senna was up against other all time greats like Piquet, Prost and Mansell. Senna was the best. |

First time I saw greatness in MaxV was in a wet race and all the drivers were going at 60% and being careful ..
Max started near the back and went through them like a dose of salts somehow managing to go at near max pace .. just fearless Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

It's like Messi and Ronaldo dominating football. Because there was not enough good footballers to challenge them in their era. |

An honorable mention to Jackie Stewart, but Senna was on another level to anyone. Of course, many restrictions were brought in after his death, so it's not comparing like with like from then forward

I still know where I was and what I was doing when Senna died. I was actually watching the race. Someone had also died the day before in the qualification.
But I also remember that after the race I went out and played tennis down street. Using a fence as the net. That's how big Senna was. His death is just as memorable as JFK's or Princess Diana's Last edited by Alf; 11-12-2023 at 09:55 PM. |

Just watch this Top Gear tribute to understand that Senna was the greatest.
The country of Brazil had 3 days of mourning for him. Even Schumacher among many other drivers say here that Senna was number 1. |
