I say Comic Books and Manga, but I will also include these:

Manhwa - Korean Comic Books.

Manhua - Chinese Comic Books.

Graphic Novel - I think most people will know what a Graphic Novel is.

Audio Book - Tbh I'm not an expert on Audio Books, but I do know that some people like them, so it's only fair to give those people a chance to discuss the Audio Books that they are enjoying, on this thread.

Light Novel - A Japanese medium that tends to normally be longer than a Manga volume, but shorter than a regular Novel.

Web Novel - I'm not really sure exactly what a Web Novel is myself, but I do know that it gets categorized differently to regular Novels, and all of these other mediums.

Basically anything that's not a regular Book (because regular Books already have their own thread for discussion) so it's not really necessary for them to be included in this thread.

Anyway, with the boring explanation out of the way, I have been reading a Manhwa series called Pigpen, which is created by the guy who did the Manhwa version of Sweet Home (which was adapted as a TV Series on Netflix,) but anyway Pigpen is my first experience with this Author's works, and I am mostly happy with my experience after the first 36 chapters.

My favourite period was when it was purely a mystery from the main character's perspective for the first I wanna say 21 chapters (I've been reading them like a blur lol) because the main character also has amnesia, so not only is he stuck on a mostly isolated island, with the exception of this weird family who let's just say I wouldn't 100% trust (that's not a spoiler, the writer let's you know very quickly that something isn't right,) but he also has to figure out who he is, why is he even on the island in the first place? And basically once that stuff gets answered, where I'm at after 36 chapters, is still entertaining, but it isn't as well thought out imo.

That's my review of Pigpen anyway.

I recently finished the comics series Books of Magic.

Not the recent reboot, the first version.

The main character looks quite a bit like Harry Potter - messy dark hair, round glasses - but I really doubt JK based Harry's appearance on Tim. Their personalities aren't alike, and Tim doesn't go to a magic school or anything like that

She still might've been inspired by Tim's appearance tbf, creatives can sometimes get inspiration in the least likely of places.

It's cool to think that there's another character out there that looks like Harry Potter.

I suppose it's not impossible

For the reboot they decided to make him look like this, so they were possibly aiming for the HP audience

I finished Pigpen a couple of nights ago.

What a series, when I actually started to wonder if this series was just a really shallow attempt at The Promised Neverland or Lost, it completely won me back around.

It in particular made what I initially thought was a more laggy period of the story in the middle chapters, age incredibly well imo.

If anyone does decide to check this series out on TIBB, my only warning would be not to read any spoilers about it, go in completely blind to any of the answers, like I did, the story works really effectively that way imo.

I've been giving Pluto another shot, I've only done the first seven chapters so far.

But I'm a bit mixed on it, I'll give it a few more chapters, just to see how it goes.

I dropped Pluto, whilst it has some clever ideas, they're executed in a really drawn out and dull way.

And no I don't just want "pew-pew" as some people will try to rudely reply back with on certain corners of the Internet.

The main thing that I personally wanted from Pluto was a character that I could actually be interested in, and had an actual personality.

As I've already said, I can see some clever writing in terms of how the world is being set up, but imo it's a waste of time if none of the characters are particularly gripping in my view.
