It may be fixing the fence after the chickens are long gone, but I wonder if we could have an actual debates section for actual good faith debates where dismissive, tribalistic anti-intellectual garbage is just simply not allowed? As in, it results in immediate loss of posting privileges for that section?

There are genuinely still members here (god knows why!) with interesting and nuanced things to say but it's constantly drowned out by some very loud, defensive and agenda-driven voices.

The current section is pretty much unusable for anything other than sniping unfortunately. It's simply not a debates section, not to anyone who knows what a debate is. i.e. not a Facebook opinion brawl.
