Channel 4 'will show Big Brother sex if it happens' - spokeswoman

Channel 4 say if Big Brother housemates end up having sex in the new series, they will show it. But a spokeswoman said she "doubts it will happen."

She says British contestants are too reserved to end up sleeping with each other while millions of TV viewers are watching.

The new Big Brother 3 house, built at Elstree Television Studies in Hertfordshire, no longer has a 'den' where amorous housemates can get to know each other better.

A Channel 4 spokeswoman said it was extremely unlikely that any of the contestants would have sex in the new series.

"If people do have sex then we would show it but I doubt it will happen," she said. "If you look at Big Brothers around the world the Germans were very efficient at doing their tasks, the Scandinavians were at it like rabbits, the French were very romantic and the Spanish were very fiery.

"But the British were very British and just sat around talking and drinking lots of tea."

Phil Edgar-Jones, executive producer of Big Brother, said he would not be trying to engineer any romance between the housemates.

"The romance between Paul and Helen came out of the blue and none of us saw it coming.

"Viewers saw two people falling in love on screen which was very unusual and you can't predict when that is going to happen. I think relationships are far more important than any romance."

Don't think I'd want to see it, even if it did happen.

I like to think our housemates will have more self-respect than their foreign counterparts - just like Paul and Helen did.
