But there's more to being a teenager than boozing, bonking and brawling, as a new series for BBC Scotland aims to show.
Teen Commandments, to be presented by Big Brother winner Cameron Stout and Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman, wants to discover if the 10 Commandments have any relevance for young people in the 21st century.
If that all sounds very worthy and a bit po-faced, Cameron and 28-year-old Edith insist it will be anything but.
Cameron, 32, says:'The good thing about this is that we're looking at it from a teenager's point of view.
'We don't speak to parents or teachers or social workers or any other adults in authority.
'The only voices we hear are teenagers' voices and that's the important thing.'
With that in mind, we took Cameron and Edith back in time to relive their own teenage traumas ...
