Default BB needs a dramatic change next year

the viewers this year i think were the lowest yet and no-one in real life seems to talk about big brother like they used to. its as if hardly anyone watches it. although i think this years was quite good, it wasnt different enough to become popular. bb has been on for like 9 years and its still the same format!
things they need to change
1. get rid of davina and replace with someone funny and not scared to tell it like it is in interviews.
2. more twists and alot more pressure put on the housemates.
3. and the format needs to change like the amount of housemates or the weekly evictions, just something!!

this years was as if the producers could not be arsed with entertaining th public, there was barely any twists!

God, what rubbish. First thing to ensure BB10 is a success - don't employ sweet66!

The producers actually did little wrong this year - the blame for the ratings this year can solely be laid at the doors of Channel 4, who did little to promote the show and didn't seem to want it to succeed.

They basically need to bend over backwards for Big Brother next year - give them the slots they want, the extended live coverage on E4 and most importantly, the promotion. Not the same old eye flash / house shots campaign we get every year - something new that doesn't just say Big Brother is back, but also says why they should watch Big Brother.

The promos need to continue throughout the series too - so if there is a big twist coming up like Head of House or the Prisoners Dilemma, let the viewers know - and don't just assume they'll here about it on BBLB or read it on Heatworld.

With that being said though it doesn't mean the producers can give up - BB9 very much was a series to steady the ship and rediscover the core values of the BB format, which I believe it did - so it's now time to use that as a platform to move the show into a new era.

I only agree with the third point.

Davina shouldn't go and this series was better without so much twists. It's BB8's fault that the ratings were down this year.

non of the twists were big enough to be promoted that much.
i think bb did wrong this year because when a show has been going so long they cant keep to the same format it has to get better and better if its going to maintain ratings. i dont think the problem was the advertising, there wasnt much to advertise because bb was any different to any other years. last year they used to promotion that big brother is becomming evil or something but how can do they promote when this bb had nothing exciting and different format to promote?

For BB10 to be a success producers have to re read '1984' and remind themselves the whole point of 'big brother'

Davina needs to ask deeper questions she is kinda getting annoying when she is so nice to the bullies Alex interview is an example.... they need a dramatic change in rules and change the format including evictions

I really liked the week during this series where all of the housemates were up and Davina spoke to the house at various times saying who was safe. I wouldn't be against then doing this every week and changing the nominations process, maybe:

- Head of House is automatically immune
- Housemates nominate one person they want to leave, and one person they would like to stay. A vote to leave is a minus nomination, vote to stay is a plus nomination
- The top 2 or more housemates who have the most points are also immune
- The rest of the house faces eviction in a combined vote to save/evict

But that will never happen, so just tweak the nominations process:

- Head of House is immune and nominates one person to definitely face eviction
- The rest of the housemates nominate for another 2 or more to face eviction

The live shows are desperately in need of an overhaul. Maybe bring back f&f pleas, VT packages of each housemate up for eviction etc. The producers also need to give Davina better questions.

What they need are HM's who have something interesting and to say. A basic general knowledge would help.

I think it'd be good if there was some kind of task early on that twisted the whole series - I was thinking a housemate would pick a number, e.g. 3, and every 3rd week the nominations would get flipped on their heads, so the housemates with the least nominations every 3rd week would be up for eviction, but BB wouldn't tell the housemates that, so they'd get paranoid. Or, they could tell the housemates that, and then they'd start voting extremely tactically, and it wouldn't be beyond BB to then twist it again.

But I don't like twists that last for a few days and then are over - they're publicity stunts.

i agree with the majority of that... to gain new viewers seeing shards of the eye flying past your screen doesn't say much you may figure its BB but it doesn't advertise the show as such just shows that its there...

I think that any series of Big Brother should be judged on how good it is and not how many people watched it. Channel 4 are too concerned with the ratings and they mess around with the show too much to try and increase the ratings. In doing so, they are alienating the most loyal viewers who used to watch 24/7. I will never watch any show presented by Davina Mcall.
