when Im older... a DJ!!!
Just thinking back at summer, when I went to Kavos (Greece's clubbing capital) and I was inspired by the people working there, also I lived next door to a massive family, and one of them was training to be a DJ, he was about 24 and was telling me about it. Now, my cousin (who has been training for ages) is going off to Ibiza. Im thinking.... i would absloloutley love doing taht for a job, bercause Im a party animal, love having fun and love music. Anyone know what to do and how to start out if you want to become a DJ? The person I met on holiday, his DJ name is DJtyke, how cool is that? haha |

I got a couple of mates that are DJ's and MC's, they over in USA and Australia at the moment. It's a cool job to do, I used to DJ but I focusing on my travelling and writing career.
Make sure if you want to do it to listen to loads of music that you wouldn't normally, you'll trawl through loads of cra'p but you'll occasionally find something so unique and outstanding to add to your set. What kind of genre would you go with? |

It helps to know somebody in the scene, or befriend somebody. lol. Have you got equpiment at home to practice with? If not then maybe a mate has? Also talk to DJ's at your local nightclubs either in person or e-mail etc. Ask them questions, or to maybe watch them, let you have a go. You may get many offers rejecting your request (the Arts world is like that) but it's a case of keep trying an trying until you get a breakthrough. Your best bet is to also decide what kind of stuff you want to play, maybe genre specific (Psy-Trance etc) or if you will focus on club DJing with popular music. Practice is also a key element, the more you practice the better you will become. Also listening is a major factor. Listen to music carefully, the beat etc, and learn what will work and what won't when mixing etc. A good way to start with this is again listening to how DJ's merge tracks. |

I'm planning on going to Zante next summer with some friends. Can't wait.
Anyway, becoming a DJ sounds like a great plan! It's probably best to associate yourself with other DJs/those who have contacts etc., but that's quite easily done if you go round the clubs and stuff. Good luck with it. |
