It's becoming clear that the themed weeks that the producers insist on doing each week are becoming somewhat of a downfall.
The seem to make a new victim of the public vote each week, and sometimes it's somebody who would not usually be there, and to me, is rather pointless. Themes like british number 1's/best of british etc are okay as they are still very open themes, but stupid ones like Mariah Carey week WTF? Not many people can sing like her, and more to the point, the winner probab;y won't be singing like Mariah Carey. AND... The best performances from the acts have come on survival songs most of the time, when they can choose what ever they like to sing. Does this not show that the themes need to be slightly more open? or just scrapped. |

I don't like the themes, what the point in contestants doing a certain theme when they have absolutely no intention of ever releasing music of that theme
The open themes are good though I think contestants should pick their own songs, and show the public what they are really about, who they are and what sort of music they will release if they win. |

I love themed weeks, and thats what makes shows like Xfactor and American idol so popular. Its not our regular singing competition, where anyone just sings what they want! You have to sometimes sing something you will never do under normal circumstances! IN fact for me, the narrower the theme, the better, and more difficult! I loved the Elvis theme on AI, that was really tough, or Stevie Wonder. How boring would it be if they all just followed their comfort zone! Besides, real artists can adapt t any theme, and make it their own. You are not required to do the songs exactly like the originals! Thats one thing about Diana that I appreciate, even though I simply dont like her voice, she is able to take any song or genre, and make it her own!

Well if they weren't doing TT week soon I'd probably say yes. The artists are a bit stupid,it's better to have genres like Big Band.

i was talking to my mum about this and we think that the contestants should get to sing whatever they want (to a certain extent) and then there is no-one to blame if they mess up or there is no complaints about wrong song choices
