X-Factor flop Paul Holt could be on his way to winning £50,000 from Simon Cowell.

Cowell told him: "If you get a record deal and a No 1 single, I'll give you a cheque for £50,000."

Paul has now signed a record deal and the bookies make him the 20/1 sixth favourite for the Christmas No 1.

His novelty record - called Fifty Grand for Christmas - attempts to turn the tables on Cowell, says the Mirror.

Paul, 37, from Bury, said: "I think I've got as good a chance as anybody. This is an incredible bonus I never expected and I hope tyhe public can get behind me.

"Fifty grand is a drop in the ocean to Simon but to me it's four years wages. He would look like a fool if he didn;t pay up."

Cowell made his offer after rubbishing the call centre worker's attempt to cover Cilla Black's You're My World

Please dont let us have influx of X Factor rejects pushing themselves on the scene with novelty records. Wasnt it bad enough having the Cheeky Girls?

Anyone else having trouble working out how they have picked their last three?

Simon says that if one of them (cant remember his name) walked into his office with the other four he would give him a record contract - then goes and leaves him out of his final 3. And as for picking Verity because the public will like her - I thought this was supposed to be a 'talent contest' and he has already said that she has the weakest voice.

Cant see any of Louis' 3 making it in the real world

And as for Sharon - make your mind up girl. I bit Andy felt a bit hard done by when he saw the show and found that he was in the top three, and then she changed her mind.

Are they picking the best of who they think the public will vote for?

I agree BusyBee I thought that Andy was much better than the girl that she picked.
I really did think Simon was wrong not to put in the man that was a vocal coach he had a great voice much better than Verity.

Here's some news...

Quote:
Rush of money on X Factor's Steve

Bookies have seen a rush of money on X Factor contestant Steve Brookstein.

William Hill have cut the odds on him winning from 7/1 to 11/2.

"Although Steve's desire to win has been questioned our customers obviously think differently, causing us to cut his odds", said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

Rowetta Satchell is still favourite to win the show with odds of 3/1, with Tabby in second place on 4/1 and G4 in third place with 9/2.

Simon Cowell is now the bookies' favourite to win the battle of the managers with odds of 5/4.

Sharon Osbourne is in second place with 15/8 and Louis Walsh in third with 2/1.

Still cant get over how on earth both Roberta and Voices with Soul got the lowest votes. They definitely didnt deserve that. To my mind Cassie and 2 to Go plus Verity. But who am I to judge. The Great British Public makes up its own mind and its true we are softies and vote for people we feel sorry for. Just hope in the future programmes people vote for performances.

Cant wait to the judges have a choice of two of their own group

BusyBee, both Sharon and Louis said on the ITV2 programme after the Results show that they WOULD NOT vote if the choice was between two of their own artists . . . . . .

My view on how many of the finalists have that elusive X Factor . . . . . . . NONE. A few of them are very good, but nothing different to what's already out there. The others are just plain bland.

Unfortunately they're not different though, Lance.

Simon Cowell recently launched a new group called 'Il Divo' which costs of 4 opera singers who sing modern songs. They currently have a version of Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak My Heart' out, and sang it on Parky's show a few weeks ago. They're very good too - much better than G4 IMHO.

The X Factor is all about the fight between the judges as far as I'm concerned - the contestants seem to come a poor second. Even the final decision as to who's eliminated each week is ultimately down to the judges.

I must admit I thought of G4 when I saw the advertisement for Il Divo who are sooo much better. Dont think there is a place for two groups so similar.

Quite agree I honestly dont think this is a show where the best singer/s will win or have been chosen. Still cant understand how Simon can say to someone that if they walked into his office he would sign them up and then not put them in his top 3. Doesnt make sense.

There is too much competitiveness between the judges. Can see if one of Simon's is in the last two Sharon and Louis will vote them off however good they are just because they are in his group.

I think tahat whatever happens there will be nothing different to come out of the x factor!

TBH who is something that we havent seen before? To me Voices With Soul are probably the most unique thing as there isnt anything like them around at the moment..apart from the WeatherGirls but theyre well gone!

Rowetta,Tabby,G4,Steve,Cassie,Verity are all clones of someone else(well except the older guys!)

2 To Go also have the exception because there arent many boy/girl duo out at the mo...until the next Popstars series!

Anyone know why (apart from the fact that she is Simon's girlfriend) Terri is appearing on this show. She is absolutely awful. Talk about nepotism.

OK, which one is Terri?

Well, I saw the show for the first time last night (captive, baby sitting).

Truly dreadful. Wouldn't go down the local pub to see any of them, sorry.

I watched some of the results show on Saturday and thought it looked alright.

But the show seems to be as much about the so-called rivalry between the judges as it does the artists. If that continues it could sink the winner's chances of career at the end.

And I don't think the voting format is a very good idea - giving the judges the final say on who goes. It's like the US election - millions of votes are cast and then the final decision is made by a split vote in the Supreme Court!

Even though I agree with everyone's points about it being more about the judges, I still think Sharon kicks ass and most of the contestants are brilliant (not keen on Steve though and 2 To Go are distinctly average, lol).

I love G4, their voices are outstanding - especially Jonathan's (the blonde lead), who is absolutely gorgeous Tabby, Cassie and Rowetta are brilliant as well
