Boy George has been jailed for 15 months after being convicted of falsely imprisoning a male escort at his London home.

Last month, the former Culture Club singer, real name George O'Dowd, was found guilty of handcuffing Audun Carlsen to a wall and beating him with a metal chain during a drug-fuelled naked photoshoot at his Shoreditch flat.

During the trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, the jury heard that O'Dowd had accused Carlsen of hacking into his laptop and stealing photographs.

O'Dowd denied false imprisonment, claiming that he had handcuffed the escort to the bed while he investigated the incident.

However, sentencing him, the judge said that he was guilty of "gratuitous violence", adding that his attack was "premeditated", "callous" and "degrading".

The singer is expected to begin serving his sentence immediately.
