Hollyoaks actress Loui Batley will quit the soap after nearly four years in the role of Sarah Barnes, Digital Spy can exclusively reveal.

The 22-year-old will bow out of the show towards the end of the year in an "explosive" storyline.

Last night, she attended an Avenue Q afterparty at the Haymarket Hotel in London and was overheard confirming her departure from the Channel 4 series.

She remained tight-lipped regarding the details of her exit plot but insisted that it would "shock" viewers.

Those attending the event included Kimberly Walsh, Eddie Izzard, Jodie Prenger and Virgin1's new continuity presenter Red.

Recent Hollyoaks departures have included Chris Fountain (Justin Burton), Jamie Lomas (Warren Fox) and Stuart Manning (Russ Owen).

Those due to leave also include Emma Rigby (Hannah Ashworth) and Zoë Lister (Zoe Carpenter).

OMFG Zoe and Sarah?? YAY! I can't stand them. Now they just need to get rid of Mike,Ash and Lauren.

Zoe and Sarah have sex (YAY!) and Sarah breaks up with Lydia...
BUT!
Zoe dun want nothing serious and broked Sarah's heart and Sarah goes all drunk and gets into trouble with a dangerous guy and Zoe attemps to rescue her but get murdad with Sarah.

I'm not bothered. I never liked the character of Sarah and I don't think he character was really going anywhere. Her lesbian storyline seemed so unreal, pointless and forced.

Hollyoaks is losing some of its best characters with Hannah, Zoe and Sarah going.
I still feel the show hasn't recovered after losing the big Characters of Craig, Claire, John Paul, Justin, Max and others. So with these 3 big characters leaving it looks like the show will get worse before it gets better
The latest characters which have been brought in just don't seem to have any depth to fill the gaps left

Gutted Zoe's leaving but glad that Sarah is. She will probably work as a model now or present a porn channel because she cannot act (even by HO standards) for her life. Her voice is so monotonous. And the lesbian storyline, how forced and contrived can it get?

That reminds me of Chesney on Corrie. I never noticed but someone pointed out to me that his nose bends to the left and now everytime he's on screen it bugs the hell out of me.

I'm more bothered about Zoe and Hannah. I think the character of Sarah is largely unengaging.

It'll recover, the thing with Hollyoaks is that since it's youth orientated and almost all the actors are under 30, there's a lot of exits because HO is the first step of many careers for HO actors. It's good at covering for losses.

They'll be missed but we got a slew of new characters over the summer so hopefully we'll get a few great replacements.

Im enjoying some new characetrs, Wade and Cheryl..... Sarah seem to not go any where, the whole lesbian thing was the match the popularity of John Paul and Craig (even know i hated John Paul, and thoght the story line was over rated).....

Sarah is an awful Hollyoaks character. No-one likes her, probably why she is 'leaving'.
