Intelligence or good looks
What quality do you prefer in the opposite sex (on a long-term basis) intelligence or good looks?
Much as I like someone to look nice - for me intelligence is a prerequisite! In fact - I find intelligence sexy! |

Secondly, intelligence and great chat! No point in going out with someone who is drop dead gorgeous but fail on the chat front and intelligence is below par! I do like a nice pair of shoes too but appreciate that shallow he he |

If you are possessed of a keen intellect and enjoy the odd session of verbal jousting then looks are irrelevent, unless of course you're totally bet down. I mean unfortunately sight plays a big role in attraction, but as long as you're feminine looking and not a complete troll then it's grand. I'll take intelligence over looks any day of the week.

how would one judge intelligence but against their own and so that is not a very good basis to judge from?

Tbh it would be perfect if the person had both.
I couldnt bear to go out with a girl who is gorgeous but has the personality of a table lamp. But however, I would really obviously go for good looks as well. The best of both worlds would be if the girl is pretty, intelligent, great sense of humour and not arrogant... that would be perfect for me. Not to be harsh, but i wouldnt go for someone that is very "ugly", i know people have different perceptions on who looks good and who doesnt, and i have my own perception. I wouldnt go for someone ugly.... but to the same extent, I wouldnt go for someone who is dumb either. However being too intelligent would make me feel small, if she is extremely intelligent it will make me look like a numpty, i would love it if she had the same intelligence as me or just a bit smarter. I have about an IQ of about 113. (just above average). bieng too intelligent would intimidate me.
