But it's just the same as all the other crap MTV puts out, the only difference between this and the likes of Lacuna Beach/The Hill/Whatever is that the 'cast' consists of stereotypical latin people. It's brainless and dull and I just do not get it and to be honest I'm grateful.

i hate it when people compare the real world type shows to laguna beach and the hills, the only thing they have in common is that they are both on mtv

How are they different? they both feature pretty people who we're meant to care about because they're pretty and (probably) rich. Both are pretty much staged, even if they aren't staged people will put on an act to gain attention. ALL MTV reality shows are the same thing but with different names.

The Hill is obviously staged but I have a feeling that the Real World producers didn't staged 9/11 and hurricane Katrina in the Chicago and Key West seasons

Well that was just unlucky for them and lucky for the producers wasn't it?

I've watched bits and pieces and it's obvious that the cast members act their way through it and they do so badly, anyone who really thinks ANYTHING coming from an MTV Reality show isn't staged is incredibly naive. I know what I'm talking about, I've done studied Media in depth for 3 years I know how MTV works.

You still haven't provided me with anything that shows me that not all reality tv shows on MTV are the same thing.

What in the name of all that is **** has that got to do with proving the Real World is not fake?

Sure it's not fake in the sense that there is a script, but it's basically the equivalent of getting your mates drunk, putting a camera in their face, and telling them it's for YouTube.

As for what I am watching on television that is better than Jersey Shore? I hear Salvation TV is good at this time of night. Or I might just stick with my usual weather channel.

Again, how is that proof that the show's events are not exaggerated? Of course real stuff happens in it and real commitments pop up, because they are real people who presumably live in the real world.

Okay that's probably not faked but can you prove that the majority of it isn't? and that still doesn't tell me how Real World is different to other MTV reality shows, I still see vapid pretty people being uninteresting.
