Default snobbishness against big brother

I have to admit it does grate

i know bb is not exactly high brow entertainment and I think BBBots is utter rubbish

however the show is inherently clever, the book is genius, the tasks are also sometimes ingenious

mock all they want , bb is the longest running reality show of them all.

I have to say however I dont share the love in for davina and emma, yes theyre ok, but their interviews are often rubbish, the producers are also to blame as they simply dont give them enough time

the genius is behind it all is orwell and Id love to see the production team aspire to to higher ideals to get the class show this could and should be, but only sometimes is

the main beef I have is the choice of housemates, the wannabees, the super tanned uber bores, id much prefer we get the cross section of eccentrics that make up this great country

I know I for one am not being snobbish when I don't watch it. Although there are some who do avoid it for snobbishness which IMO is wrong.

I used to love it and would like to see some justice over the Conor issue and some decency from the BB production team so we could return to watch BB.It has nothing to do with snobbishness.

It has to do with the BB producer saying Conor was warned in the papers, when we all know that isn't true, that they only checked if he knew the rules in the diary room, and has to do with what I believe is deliberate helping and encouragement of bullying by BB to actually help cowards like Caroline and Conor treat good people however they wish in the aim of trying to improve ratings through controversy.

So myself and many others are boycotting BB even though we'd love justice to be don e and for BB to stop helping filth like those two be as bad as they have been to good people.

So the reason myself and others are not watching is not because of snobbishness at all.

It is on the principles of telling the truth and how it so wrong to help filth like those two in the name of commercial advantage.

It is also appalling how many turn their eye away from the truth that Conor was not warned as the producer said in papers and away from the fact that BB have been actually giving advantage to scum like Carolin e etc in the aim of commercial gain all so you can all continue to watch getting your fun from some of the most awful people around picking on good people when it's clear that they're not able to fight back if they want to avoid being up an d have a chance at 100k.

The only decent thing to do is to NOT watch and put pressure on BB to actually show some intelligent thought and come up with ideas to entertain viewers that are not based on helping cowards to pick on un protected victims.

Personally I dont care what people think, what I choose to watch on my TV in the privacy of my own home is up to me, I dont watch Eastenders, but I wouldnt "look down" on those who do, its personal choice and taste and we all have our guilty pleasures...

I have watched from 1-12 so I obviously enjoy it, but I do agree with a lot of the OP.
I have a dream of a BB where every HM is between 25 and 60. They would all be well educated and with wide life experiences.
There would be some fascinating discussions and potentially some very challenging games.
Of course it would still be a plus if some of the women were attractive to view.
I suppose there are not enough like me to make it commercially viable.
Oh, well, I can keep dreaming.

That leaves out a lot of potentially amazing unedicated 60+ and 18-24 year olds who have lived in a bubble. I would just like a very diverse cast.

its not all about who bb put in the house its about the people that audition for bb in the first place.
well eduacated people are not interested in being put in a circus with fame hungry freaks with egos that are bigger than their brains.

Yes you weigh it up perfectly - year on year its dumbs down and goes for more idiotic clowns Trashleigh Ashcart and her vain popeye lookalike are perfect examples of how the HM selection process needs changing.

Except the 11th series did have some educated people, it wasn't all shallow non-entities. CH5 have wanted to move it more in the direction of shallow bores and they have added sneering Marcus to it as well as camp pantomime Brian. Celebrity Hijack wasn't made up of just stupid people either.

I missed the first 3 weeks. I couldn't be bothered. But now I've joined the 1.4 miillion or so who NOW watch the show nightly on C5. We should remember that figure when all the INTERNET hype around these housemates dissapears, like it has for last year's lot.

It has always been trendy to slate off BB. People who have never seen the program seem to enjoy putting down those that do. As for why, well I ain't got a clue. BB is a superb tv show which always makes me laugh and keeps me coming back year after year.

WHat's annoying when you read a media BB story and someone always says: 'Are people still watching this rubbish?' or 'I didn't realise this rubbish was still on'. ZZzzzzzzz.

Only up to a point.
a) since there are thousands not chosen one has to conclude that the producers are actively looking for dumb 20 year-olds;
b) if older, more intelligent people do not apply (and I am sure that is true) it must be at least partly because of the current HMs and what that says about the attitudes of the underage producers.

I like it, it serves its purpose to entertain us in a very low brow way. Yoou can be cultured and still like a bit of sillyness in your entertainment.
