and then there's jade richards from last year didn't get through when she was clearly the best, because she wasn't some stick thin, fake tanned, wannabe. and didn't get through this year, i dont even think her bootcamp audition was shown.

the judges always say you sing good and YOU LOOK GOOD (why is looking good a factor in a singing contest?)

theory doesn't hold water, this years contestants aren't the best looking bunch, James Arthur, Lucy, Kye, none of them are 'media defined goodlooking', but they do all have some modicum of talent, therefore looks are irrelevant, and I find if you like a person for who they are, you find them appealing anyway

The most goodlooking people can completely leave me cold, because they are horrors inside. Prime example...Chezza Cole.

if it is not a singing contest then why do they have to sing at the audition to get through? why do they have to sing at bootcamp to get through? why do they have to sing at judges houses to get through? why do the have to sing on the live show every week? that sounds like a singing contest to me.

People in that business want to make as much cash as possible, it's no different from models being chosen for what they look like imo at the end of the day teenage girls will buy "music" by goodlooking boys over ugly ones, fact of life, it's more their fault then the producers who make these bands. If there was a market for talented but not so goodlooking boy bands then they'd choose the best singers imo
