They've identified quite a few of these types of planets now. I find it rather exciting but it's such a shame that any developments we're making in deep space travel are pretty much non-existent!
I know there have been advances in propulsion systems by specialist tech companies but the US government's more financially invested in destructive technologies rather than things like space exploration and travel which could very well save mankind someday when our planet becomes uninhabitable. When i was a kid i was convinced that by now we'd have a base on the moon and maybe even on Mars and that we'd be far more advanced in manned deep space exploration. Sadly, with the way we're behaving, i think it's more likely that we'll either kill off our entire species through wars or completely destroy our planet long before we're capable of venturing out to other livable worlds. I really don't think there can be any doubt that there's other life forms out there in the Universe. I know there's always the chance that coming in contact with any of them could be seriously risky but given the chance to find out i'd jump at the opportunity to find out! I think there's going to have to be some groundbreaking discovery in some as yet undiscovered type of intergalactic or interstellar travel such as wormholes or some kind of Stargate type device before we stand a serious chance of reaching any of these discovered planets. Wouldn't it be *****ing AMAZING if we did find other habitable planets and a way of getting to them though !!!!? That's the kind of stuff i dream about!!! It just makes me sad to think that it's just not gonna' happen soon enough for our generation though. |

Yes its a 2nd Earth.
As soon as we get faster space travel we could send a 10 year old boy up there by the time he reached the 2nd Earth he would be 50 Last edited by arista; 19-04-2014 at 06:24 AM. |

Apparently there are as many stars as there are grains of sand (although I bet whoever came up with that, knew that it was gonna be a long while before someone could check to see if they were right). But it kinda suggests that there's an almost countless amount of planets and moons. Anyway it's pretty cool that we can figure out where some of them are are now.
