Farage was Live with Douglas
http://news.sky.com/story/1326103/mp...ories-for-ukip And Farage just said some Labour MP's have UKIP views http://www.theguardian.com/politics/...-mp-byelection I like Douglas but he has done this without talking to the PM typical [He announced that he would be standing for UKIP in the forthcoming by-election which could be held within weeks. The Clacton MP entered Parliament in 2005, and has frequently rebelled over European issues. He won his first election by just 920 votes, but was returned in 2010 with a 12,000 majority.] Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz3BgTRgS6x Last edited by arista; 10-10-2014 at 03:00 AM. |

In my opinion, not his wisest move.
I actually would like to see the Clacton voters reject him in the by election. |

For me, I am just so annoyed any MP has now given new attention for UKIP.
I really find it incredible that voters even think of electing MP's who change sides,it doesn't show much as to loyalty. Very sadly now,I think UKIP will take this seat but for me it is a bad day for politics if they do, the real detail of their policies is a mystery. Perhaps the only good thing to come from it all will be if by some miracle the Conservative and Labour parties try to restore decency and legitimate combat as to elections. Otherwise I can see the media now clamouring for UKIP at the next election and poll after poll showing a rise in the UKIP vote, hopefully and thankfully not enough to really sweep a good number of UKIP MPs inot Parliament. |

I've been speaking to some people who've been campaigning for the Tories in Clacton in the last few weeks and almost to a man, from the feedback they're getting on the doorstep, they think UKIP will take it.

Hopefully UKIP will not take the other seats in by elections otherwise the media is going to swamp us with the 'massive' rise of UKIP likely right up to and including the general election. |

I don't think this is going to be a good time for politics in the UK, however the main parties are at fault, they need to get their act together and stop the nonsense of creating divisions between both themselves and in the UK at large, where there should in fact not be any.
Responsible politics with reasoned debate is what is needed and although UKIP,in my view, have a hidden agenda that I doubt many would like if they really knew it, it is UKIP and Nigel Farage particularly who seem the most plausible as to responsible and reasoned debate. As Nigel Farage showed in his debates with the calamity that was Nick Clegg, who was simply childish and out of step all the time. I hope, if they are going to win any of these by elections, then that is only one of them and no more before the 2015 election, otherwise, the whole 2015 camaign will likely be a crazy mixed up media circus all about where UKIP are in the polling. |

I would love to see Carswell lose but sadly I don't think he will.
The other by election too with only a 36% turnout is likely going to add to the UKIP frenzy with the media, however there, Labour will hold the seat. I also think if it is a really good win for UKIP in the Clacton by-election that it will only keep them running forward again to the next by election which I think they could also win when it takes place. Not a good night for politics in my view is this going to be. |

Wow, really tight finish in Heywood and Middleton, Conservative vote crashes but only just over 600 votes between Labour winning and UKIP in 2nd place, albeit on a much smaller turnout.
