I have no time for MPs who switch parties before the next main election, this MP had Conservative funds, workers and time and effort helping him be elected.
These 2 MPs who have switched would be for me, 2 people not to trust again. I am not Conservative now at all but I really hate this when it happens. |

I would love a back bencher Labour MP to jump. The one thing Farage does he keeps a Live Event you do not find out before it happens. No Leaks He gave special instructions to SkyNewsHD to go Live at the moment the MP was to walk out. they did go Live as he walked out and showed it in full. The silly slow BBC were also there (reporter on a coffee break or something) be failed to cover it Live |

So I as a Labour supporter now, I would say good riddance to them. Whatever the reasons are for these miserable MPs switching, possibly in the main the EU issue,I still say it is wrong to do so. |

We will find out Farage confirmed back bench Labour MP's hate Miliband for not giving the UK a vote on Europe. Josh Labour used to hate Europe Laws that are not fair on trade and they are still in the party. I would not be shocked at a old Labour MP jumping ship. |

What happens in Politics is thing can change super fast though. Like in 1963 back when that Sexy Model Lady was with a Conservative MP and a Russian on other days it was Mega. That Film made on it - was great. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Profumo Last edited by arista; 27-09-2014 at 05:19 PM. |

I think and would hope too that every Labour MP realises that the NHS is in likely great danger as to how it was intended to be, from both the Conservatives and likely even moreso UKIP.
For that reason alone, I cannot see any Labour MP wanting to put that at risk. Whether they like Ed Miliband or not, from all I have read and been told by older people too, just about every Labour leader has been pretty strongly disliked by a good section of the party thoughout its existence. However Ed Miliband is spot on as to the NHS and it really needs to be Labours sort of crusade now to ensure it is saved and more to the point kept safe. I agree with JoshBB, UKIPs policies are a world away from what most Labour MPs want to see and I doubt the EU is that big an issue for them either. |

I stay in touch with some of my ex-colleagues at the Conservatives and as a party, they are crapping themselves. They threw everything they had at Clacton, they were taking campaigners in on buses, and look what happened. And it's not just the Tories who are panicking...

For me, would prefer the Conservatives to hold this seat in Rochester. I am actually glad the date is the 20th November and not earlier.
If UKIP do take it,then I already despair for the 2015 election, which will be dominated by whatever percentage UKIP have in the polls all through and hyping them up as was the case with the Lib Dems last time in part. This should be a solid Conservative seat,I hope they keep it and it will be all the sweeter as UKIP and Nigel Farage started campaigning right off after Clacton. Therefore now, not to take it, would be,at least seen as, a setback of sorts. Last edited by joeysteele; 15-10-2014 at 07:21 AM. |

I don't believe the conservatives are scared, I think they planned this all along, farage has been crawling all over the media for months! he's never out of the damn news... and it was too easy for him to elbow in on the debates... I smell a tory rat.
Who better to cosy up to than someone with the same right wing, sod the poor, privatise your granny ideals?

[Nearly a third of voters prepared to support Ukip Observer/Opinium poll shows 31% of voters would back Nigel Farage’s party if they believed it could win in their constituency] Conservatives have put a unknown woman up not a good move |

Sadly, I fear the Conservatives will lose this seat, even moreso I know of Labour voters who will be voting UKIP to help get the Conservative defeat. For me that is an odd logic, helping UKIP win is for me a dangerous game to be playing. UKIP need to be halted in my view, for me I prefer the Con/Lab battle for the next election,as the saying goes, 'better the devil you know'...... I say again, I really do despair for the 2015 election if UKIP take this seat, the media will be absolutely stupid in its hysteria towards them and the polling figures. A UKIP win for me would be a really bad result however had David Cameron sought concensus as to the EU with the major parties, rather than his procrastinated referendum/re-negotiation policy, this can of worms could have been contained. So when this seat unfortunately goes to UKIP, David Cameron's appalling judgement should fall into question even moreso again and again. |

The news of this £1.7bn increase in Britain's payment to the EU will give Ukip a big boost at just the wrong time for this election as well, it's not actually as unreasonable as it seems on first glance but the headline alone is enough to play straight into their hands

The PMs 'a vote for UKIP is a vote for labour' is a double bluff... he can't rightly say a vote for UKIP is a vote for the conservatives can he? as the right wing people who are sick of the tories won't vote for them.
My guess is he's banking on a coalition.

There will I am sure in the 2015 election be votes going all over the place against the Conservatives and Lib Dems in the hope of securing their defeat. If only the voters would grasp, since they hate this coalition Govt so much, the only way to effectively shift them out of power is to vote Labour. Equally so to Labour voters or sympathisers, if they vote UKIP for whatever reason, then they too risk a return of the Conservatives or even worse a Conservative/UKIP coalition. A combination so disastrous,in my view, that would make this present coalition look like a bunch of teddy bears in comparison. |
