do you back the "no smoking in parks" yes or no ? 15.10.14
its not often i support normally anti authority but this drug needs a export its being targeted by the majority. if you want to get healthy and you go to the park to exercise going by a cloud of smoke is not wealthy and even "smokers" must criticize. we are slowly out casting to "smoke" down we will bring so make that taste long lasting withdraw if your child wants to go on the swing. setting a good example especially in a place that's "green" your "lungs" can have a fresh sample breathing in a park will now be more clean. we are a "free country" i am not trying to scar but "parks" have to be a "no smoke" entry this is one more step to removing the nicotine tar. |

Yes.
People under 30 do not think about their own mortality thus should be protected from cigarettes which will hook them and when they do start to realise they wont live forever its too late. I would support a full and total ban |

All or nothing for me; either make it completely illegal or not. "Banning" things that are legal in open, public spaces is a dangerous path to start going down. We DO NOT need more government control over every aspect of our lives, for **** sake.
I'm all for it being banned in enclosed public spaces because no one should be subjected to other people smoking up an enclosed space. Even if you're not convinced about the health risks, you end up stinking of smoke and it's horrible. I have my questions about it being banned in pubs / bars / clubs etc... these are NOT public spaces - they are licensed private establishments. You DO NOT have the right to enter if the owner / landlord doesn't want you to enter. Therefore, whether or not smoking (if it's legal) is permitted should be completely at the discretion of the landlord / owner / management. If someone doesn't like that, and doesn't want to enter a smoky environment, then said owner should be free to tell that person that they won't change their stance and will forgo that person's custom. That should be their right... it is their property. But this, in open spaces, is just a step too far. I can accept that people shouldn't have to have their health risked for other people's habits but banning it in open-air spaces so that it isn't even seen? Err... no thanks? People can make their own decisions and introducing laws to effectively treat everyone like ******* is not something that I'm willing to go along with. We have more than enough censorship in all areas already. |

What follows that is around 10 years of feeling "invulnerable" (rather than immortal) - i.e. "Yeah that seems dangerous... for most people but I AM A NINJA!!" or "Yeah I get that smoking causes cancer and people die, but I'm young and it won't affect me until I'm old and I don't care about that". A sort of "live fast, die young" mentality based on enjoyment and exploration. It's actually an essential developmental stage - people who are encouraged (or forced) to skip it often end up very nervous / anxious adults. Either way, educated, intelligent individuals are certainly capable of thinking critically about their health and mortality from the mid 20's onwards. 30 is a bit of a stretch. I don't think there are many 26 - 29 year olds still feeling invincible. |

No I don't,not at all,in my view this is just plain stupid.
People pay council tax and in all open public spaces should not be stopped rom doing anything that is 'legal' in those places. It is as daft as the bus shelter rule too, a bus shelter, open at both ends and also with a gap at the bottom all around it too, has notices saying smoking is not allowed in it but take 2 steps out of it and you can smoke. I don't smoke but this is to me just silly. |

If smokers want to smoke out in the open air that's their choice. They already pay more into the treasury every year in tobacco tax than it takes to run the NHS.

Completely ridiculous. Smokers are segregated enough without this crap. I was all for the smoking ban in pubs and indoor spaces because non smokers shouldn't have to breathe it but parks are public domain.
