Default Immigation analogy

Water is good and we all need it. I dont think anyone would disagree.

Too much water can be very bad, if its rain. If you live in say the Somerset levels the prospect of a week of heavy rain is not welcome and would be very bad.

However for most in the UK it would not be an issue, like 99% of the politicians on Question Time who do not live on a flood plane.

When discussing water its easy to go on about its benefits, how its good for you, how we need it to live and how without lots of water we would be in trouble. Its easy to ignore flooding problems if you have no prospect of being flooded.

Water is good as long as its controlled and we have control over it.

Very profound -- Just what were you drinking to celebrate your 100th birthday LT?

Seriously, it's a good analogy. Can I muddy the waters a little though? (no pun intended)

What if 50 odd million (give or take) broke their backs digging a well and all had to chip in to contribute to its maintenance, then increasingly, a few million others came along and just took their water from the well whilst some of those who had dug it and were paying for its upkeep started to receive less than their fair share of the old H2O. Not only that, but some of those few million who hadn't dug the well nor contribute to its upkeep, actually pissed in the well.

To make matters worse, because the old well was now getting so much bash, the water started to run out and there was increasingly more upkeep needed so the maintenance subscriptions kept having to be increased to pay for it all?

No -- I'm being stupid. That could never happen.

What if some very rich overweight animals, say cats came and drank half the water and then started to charge others to drink the water?
What if they then got a private company to fix the well and doubled the price of drinking at the well?
What if some of the liquid given to some that couldn't contribute enough wasn't actually water but piss?

If you're metaphorically saying that the immigrants are rain, then I honestly think that we are not flooded at all. I believe the official statistic is that only 4% of our country are immigrants, and honestly I would support anywhere up to 20%.

4% where, nationally, Bradford, East end of LOndon, Birmingham, South London, Shetlands, Inverness?

if you average out rainfall nationally it will totally ignore flood hit areas

If you live in London, the water that you drink has probably been through 7 other people.

No one does that
on a large scale

Drowning
sadly is getting common
near Italy
as they no longer fund search/rescue
of those African boats
