Claudia Winkleman may miss the rest of Strictly Come Dancing 2014, it’s been claimed.
Claudia has stepped down from the past two shows following a tragic Halloween accident last month that resulted in her daughter Matilda being rushed to hospital with severe burns. In a statement released earlier this month, Claudia and husband Kris Thykier said: “Our daughter was involved in an accident on Friday night while celebrating Halloween. “She is having the best care possible and we are hopeful of a full recovery.” It Takes Two host Zoe Ball has stepped in for Claudia alongside Tess Daly for the past two weekends and yesterday the BBC confirmed she would also be fronting this weekend’s Blackpool special. It had been hoped that Claudia would be back, but now it’s been reported that she may not return for the rest of the series. “Getting the gig on Strictly was a dream for Claudia, so it’s cruel that she has had to pull out when things were all going so well,” a source told The Sun newspaper today. “But she is not going to leave Matilda’s side until she is sure she is ready.” The insider explained: “Matilda is taking great strides in her recovery, but a long way off being completely better and Claudia just doesn’t think it would be appropriate to be on stage being upbeat while her daughter is unwell. “At this stage she is refusing to put a time on when she’ll be back. She is going to give it as long as it takes and the BBC is being incredibly understanding.” It leaves Zoe with a rather hectic schedule, continuing to host the show’s BBC Two spin-off every weekday evening as well as the Saturday and Sunday main shows. Strictly Come Dancing continues next weekend as the show heads to Blackpool for plenty of sea, sand and sequins, starting Saturday, 15th November at 7.00pm, with the results show on Sunday 16th November at 7.15pm on BBC One and BBC One HD. Absolutely the right decision. I hope her little girl makes a good and speedy recovery.

'Thank you so much for your lovely messages - they meant everything. I'm coming back to Strictly this weekend but am out of practice so please bear with me.'
Eight-year-old Matilda is believed to have been badly burnt after an incident involving a candle saw her spooky Halloween costume go up in flames.
