Right I know everywhere has to charge for bags now and I don't mind one bit in fact I think it's a really good thing...
However some places are really taking the piss. I popped into Morrison's earlier for 2 lemons and 2 apples plus a couple of other bits and bobs and when I was being served the guy asked do you need bags? when I told him no he said okay but I need to charge you for those little plastic bags I put the lemons and apples in! So that was 10p, I don't really care how much I'm just thinking where does this end? |

Fruit has to be in a bag for health and safety reasons, here (in Wales) it's classed as an 'exemption' so the shop cannot charge you for the bags. I would think should be the same for England, weird.

I would seriously inquire in-store Josy whether this is Morrison's policy because it might be a case of some jerk off who just doesn't like you for some reason, who's diddled you. If it is the policy in your particular store, then it's certainly not implemented Nationwide. Disgusting. |

Could you not have put them in your pockets? I have not bought a bag yet and have saved a fortune.
I have used the "dont you think I have enought tae carry?" line to great effect when they ask me do i need a bag. well i laughed |

we get charged for bags in california too. but they don't charge for the little fruit and veg bags in the produce aisle, that's ridiculous.
for instance when i buy brussels sprouts, do they expect you just to put them in your canvass bag? how would they measure the weight to charge you? That doesn't even make sense. Fruits and veg need to be in separate bags. no one buys just one potato, or one mushroom. you need separate plastic bags in order to measure them properly.

The best way to upset these greedy bastards, is to make sure you take a rival supermarket's bags - printed with their name and logo - with you, then at the check out when you're asked if you need bags, ask if they're charged for. If they say 'yes', ask them why you should be charged for carrying their advertising around for them. You will not get any valid answer, but you will get pissed off looks when you say 'No thank you then' and proceed to pack their products in a rival's carriers.
I've done it many times, and believe me it really pisses them off. Last edited by kirklancaster; 22-11-2014 at 02:28 PM. |

We don't have to pay for the little bags here in Wales at least. We pay for the big carrier bags, but not those small flimsy things.
