Default Do some people go OTT at Christmas & New Year

Do you think people go over the top with food shopping/gift shopping at xmas time?

I have been out shopping the past few days and it's been absolutely mental tbh.

In Asda and Morrisons there have been people with 2 and 3 trolleys to a family absolutely filled to the top with mountains of food, I mean yeah maybe they have a big family to feed on xmas day but how much of that food is actually going to end up in the bin?

The shops are open again at 6am on Boxing Day fgs.

Also a few of the shops I was in had people elbowing, pushing others to get to the gifts when there's plenty of stock left, it's just really busy.

What do you think?

The panic food buying drives me insane. Like you say the shops are shut for 1 day fgs they cannot possibly eat all the food they buy. I am doing my food shop later.....can't wait

My family does on presents, making sure you buy something for everyone etc. But most years we've had a low key Christmas, not buying too much food, just one trolley full. But this year we're all coming to mine/my nans, because she's ill. So we're going to make it all OTT and nice

Ugh yes. You would think the shops were closing for a year or something

Mind it really is something else seeing grown women fighting over the last bag of sprouts on the shelf

They certainly do Josy and the most annoying thing for me are the people I am sure seem to only shop at Christmas too.

Those who at the checkouts, as all the goods are being scanned leave them to pile up, then only start to put them in bags when they are due to pay.

The other crackers who keep taking things out of their trollies and leaving them on the nearest shelf, whether they be fresh foods or frozen or other items.

The worst are the aisle blockers however, there are always some who do this all year round but at christmas the really silly ones appear for some reason, making some aisles like an obstacle course to get down.

It really drives me mad.

Pppffffttttt....
Only way is Internet.

We had our Christmas Day yesterday, all sat liked stuffed turkeys now.
Of course we buy extra goodies at Christmas, but end up with enough to last us the winter if we get snowed in

Yeah. People freak out too much. Although more intelligent shoppers know to brave only the 24hr supermarkets late in the evening to actually get some shopping done in peace.

Yes where my mum works people were fighting over perfume and arguing if they had pushed in or not. Food shopping wasn't too bad but maybe it will be different tomorrow. People do go crazy this time of year though

Yeah and everyone seems to have the same bright idea to do all their food shopping on Christmas eve. Nobody eats all the food they buy on Christmas anyway and it usually stays there for weeks then is probably binned. I'm hoping to avoid any shops today
