I don't know why he's been given a platform to air his archaic views.

It's a bit of a garbled interview, but the cultural and religious norms are being deliberately misunderstood... I think the questions could've been better, it was an opportunity missed to pin him down.

I posted about this when it happened last night but Neil absolutely destroyed him, I think it was fair enough having him on there considering he had been allowed to ramble on earlier in the week without being challenged, it was good that Neil exposed him for what he is

I've got to say I'm a big fan of Andrew Neil. Didn't actually watch the interview... going to now though.

Perhaps a littlE taster of what it feels like might change his mind..if not then give him a bigger go until he does.

no. we can't argue against stoning and them subject someone to it to prove our point, highly contradicting.

He actually engaged me in political chat for about 5 minutes and seemed genuinely interested in my views.

He seemed like a thoroughly decent guy.
That's nice when you meet someone you admire and they turn out to be nice and not an arse, despite the fact you had him worried there for a minute...

I agree. Don't stone him. Walk him out of the back of a prison, shoot him in the back of the head and push him into a hole. Done. And yes, I would happily do the job.

Having seen the full interview and not just the snippet in the op Maybe he has a point with regard to how those identified initially are handled?
If they are British young men and women then to be automatically thought of as an enemy could be the wrong approach.
Creating a disconnect like this without fully understanding is dangerous and could really impact on community cohesion.

Oh yeah, I'm sure he's right about it being MI5's fault... he's so right on so many other things isn't he... you know, stoning women, FGM, domestic violence... He's a real prince.

'The families of three London schoolgirls feared to have fled to Syria to become jihadi brides have accused the Metropolitan Police of failing to pass on a crucial letter.

They say a letter from the force requesting to interview the girls in relation to a classmate who ran away to Syria last year should have been handed directly to the families.

However, the letters were hidden by the girls in their school textbooks and their families never saw them.

Shamima Begum, 15, Kadiza Sultana, 16, and 15-year-old Amira Abase, who attended Bethnal Green Academy in east London, sparked a police hunt after they flew to Istanbul from Gatwick Airport last month. They are now believed to be in Syria.

Abase Hussein, the father of Amira, insisted that if he had seen the police letter he would have talked his daughter out of leaving and taken away her passport'

This is utter rubbish. Any parent of a muslim teenager would keep their sons and daughters passports safely locked up. They, more than anyone should be aware that their sons and daughters may be in danger of being radicalised. As daughters are usually so protected anyway, what reason would a teenage girl have for carrying her passport on her person anyway..

As stated in the article is they had been made aware there had been others targeted by extremists then they could have been better prepared.
To just presume ALL Muslim teens are a risk is rubbish.

Most people don't keep their children's passports locked up in a safe. My teenage daughter doesn't carry her passport around with her but she knows which drawer it's in in my bedroom
