Perhaps he should have just told them his name and address and not resisted arrest

He wasn't under arrest :/
'A man with various ailments and although not related to the case with diabetes and have part of his foot amputated. He was a man minding his own business with his dog that day you came up to him. 'You asked him for his name and address as you thought he might be the missing gentleman with Alzheimer's. 'When he refused he was brought to the floor, he was punched, constrained, had his thumb bent back to release a dog lead and hand stood on. 'I still find it very difficult to understand what was going through your minds that day. You could have thought he was a vulnerable man who said he needed safeguarding. 'And to this day I do not understand how taking a man like that to the floor is safeguarding.'

So, you ask a man whom you think has Alzheimer's to tell you his name, he refuses, what if he couldn't remember it then?
Pair of thugs. |

Their excuse for beating the **** out of a guy was... "We thought he was an elderly Alzheimers sufferer"? that's right up there with "yes your honour, We tasered him because we mistook him for an abducted baby."

Remembering Kerry

Quote:
That is the most disturbing part of this whole story, that they suspected that was who he was and yet acted so aggressively towards him, it is like the treatment still, by the Police at times,of people with mental health issues too. Unacceptable behaviour and I hope they get the book thrown at them. I do generally support the Police and think they get a rough ride most of the time but this is a disgraceful act, under any circumstances, considering who they thought he was. Inexcusable but very worrying too, people who care for those with Alzheimers /dementia should at the very least be sure if they were to go missing, that they could 100% trust the Police to ensure they were safe and protected as to their efforts to find the person, not treat them in this shocking way when they think they have found the person. |

It's only LT who doesn't care / sides with police brutality when it's blacks and, to be fair to him, if you read back this thread you'll see that he also doesn't care / has sided with police brutality here. All for equality, is our LT.

I tend not to take threads at face value and understand the difficulty the police face.. perhaps more than some on here...

Oh come on LT, you're hardly going in with an open mind and unbiased stance, you have an unwavering support of the police by default that isn't shaken even when the officers in question have been fired or even charged!

He wouldn't have been under arrest Or going to be because he was an innocent man doing nothing wrong as well as not being the person they were looking for who wouldn't have been under arrest either. |
