Default Killer chasing victim - would you help?

I recently watched a documentary where a beautiful young girl who had been abducted and beaten and raped by a Serial Killer, escaped from the boot of his car on a lonely desert road. As she ran along the road, half-naked, bloodied and distraught, he was in close pursuit and armed with a meat cleaver. Incredibly, a car came along towards the poor girl and she grabbed its wing mirror as it slowed to a halt. The old man driving the car had obviously stopped to help her, but his equally as elderly wife who was sat in the passenger seat, STARTED TO PUNCH HIM AND TOLD HIM TO DRIVE ON!!!!!

The old man complied and left the poor victim behind as the serial killer closed in, but thankfully - and against the odds - another car came along full of young men who did rescue her and the killer fled.

My question to you is; On a lonely desert road and faced with the psycho killer armed with a cleaver close by, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE? Be honest.

I'm not the hero type so I'd save the girl only under the conditions that I have at least a 40% chance of survival.

And if it was an overweight girl then I'll let Marcus save her.

She was actually slim and beautiful poor girl, but both are eclipsed by her courage.

Well lucky girl in the sense of that she didn't have to rely on the 60% chance of me helping her.

But I'm happy that she's okay, did the killer get caught?

You don't know unless you are actually faced with such a situation I suppose. I would like to think I would feel I would have to help and that I made the right choice. Sometimes you have to put yourself at risk or in a bit of danger to help others. Someone covered in blood could be the attacker rather than the victim I suppose. If I had seen the attacker going after the girl, of course I wouldn't hesitate to help her in that situation. If it was dark, the elderly couple might not have seen the man in pursuit wielding the cleaver so not known who they were letting into their car.

No way could I just drive by..that could have been my daughter, and I would hope somebody would help her in those circumstances.

Only years later Mock, after monumental cock-ups by the cops and after he'd butchered other poor women. What pisses me off is that they commuted his death sentence to life imprisonment.

Yes I would, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I drove by someone being chased like that and then they wound up dead. be it a man or a woman, there's no way in hell would I leave them there, I'd rather risk my own life and save them than just let them die.

Just as long as he never gets out to hurt anyone else is good enough for me.

It's a shame that the Police took so long to catch him though.

Depends on the circumstances. If my kids were in the car I wouldn't risk them by stopping. If I was on my own, I would try to help. However I'm not stupid enough to assume that I could just jump out and Batman-ninja a cleaver waving maniac so I'd first and foremost go for the sensible option: let her into the car and then ****ing floor it .

If both the killer and the victim were on foot with no car nearby to get in to and chase me, and I was in a car with time to stop and pick the victim up and shoot off into the distance away from the killer, then yeah I'd like to say I would do that. You can never say for sure what you'd do though because getting involved could be bad for you because the killer might recognise you then come to your house the next day and stab you in a revenge attack or something. Or maybe I'm thinking too much into it lol...

I wouldn't do anything for sure if I was on foot though!!

I'm guessing people who would drive on may fear that it was some sort of scam to get you to stop.

..I would probably drive to a safer place and away from the cleaver person and then stop and call for help..I don't know though if instincts would make me stop if it was a real situation, that's the thing I think with many people.../no thought but an instinct...
