Default The Voice UK 'to leave the BBC' after fifth series [ITV have "poached it"]

Quote:

The next series of The Voice UK will be the last to be broadcast on the BBC, after it was "poached by another broadcaster", the corporation says.
Mark Linsey, acting director of BBC Television, said in a statement that it "wouldn't get into a bidding war or pay inflated prices to keep the show".
The next series, which begins in January, will be the fifth to be shown by the BBC.
The show's new broadcaster has not yet been confirmed.
Mr Linsey said: "The BBC is incredibly proud of The Voice, but the fifth series which starts in January will be our last.
"We always said we wouldn't get into a bidding war or pay inflated prices to keep the show, and it's testament to how the BBC has built the programme up - and established it into a mainstay of the Saturday night schedule - that another broadcaster has poached it."
Funding politics
Last month the BBC said it had made a "final" bid to keep the show for two more years.
Boy George and Paloma Faith will join will.i.am and Ricky Wilson on the judging panel for the next series.
The show is currently made for BBC One by production companies Talpa and Wall to Wall. ITV bought Talpa for £355m earlier this year.
The Voice was singled out in a consultation paper published by the government, ahead of the BBC's charter renewal, as a format that is "similar to ITV's X Factor", and which was bought in from overseas rather than being developed in-house.
Culture Secretary John Whittingdale has questioned whether such shows are "distinctive" enough from those aired by commercial rivals.
In August, the BBC's director of television Danny Cohen - who is leaving his role at the end of November - defended the corporation's right to air entertainment shows like The Voice.

This probably means The Voice Kids will happen too.

I doubt it will replace X Factor since it will probably still air in the same time frame it did on BBC. So The Voice at the start, then BGT, then X Factor each year in that order.

Rumours are that The Voice Kids will air on either CITV or ITV2 as part of the successful bid deal.

I hope they air The Voice USA on ITV2 like they did with X Factor USA

I think the Voice Kids will air in January as DOI replacement and the Voice will Replace the X Factor 2017

I doubt X Factor will be axed. Simon Cowell has practically said X Factor is returning next year.

Well on one hand the pretentiousness from this government is beyond pathetic, but then on the other this show in its current form is diabolical, and dare I say that if ITV get their hands on it and have Simon Cowell involved in the production, there might finally be some entertainment injected into the format

I was under the impression the BBC commissioned two series to take them to 2017 earlier this year though? So this is surprising news

ITV have too many of this kind. However, maybe it could work as a Dancing On Ice replacement.

X Factor won't go anywhere. The Voice will just be at the start of the year as usual, I expect. It'll be the DOI replacement.

They'll have The Voice at the start of the year, that'll lead into BGT and then that'll give way for X Factor with two or so months inbetween each one.

Not ITV snatching it away. Doesn't really matter apart from the fact it'll be filled with a million ad breaks.

A sad day for the BBC. This government really is ruining one of the finest broadcasters in the world.

All David Cameron cares about is lining his pockets just like the rest of his party.

They'll renew it, it's their best shot against SCD and it's got the premium demographic when it comes to Target Audience. They won't replace it with The Voice, the only reason why The Voice does well is because it has no competition at the start of the year. It would get slaughtered up against SCD and the target audience for it isn't as good.

SCD is absolutely slaughtering it and ITV will not want a show which gets 5 million over night when 5 years before it was 15 million.

Also the Voice would do much better if it was produced better and had better mentors.

5 Million is fine because the majority of that audience is part of the younger demographic which is gold dust to advertisers. An advertiser will pay through the nose to advertise during the XF ad breaks and that's why ITV will keep it because it's still the highest rated program on a channel with advertising at this time of year.

The whole ratings battle with SCD is meaningless, it's just cross promotion for both shows.

You can't deny the X Factor is a dying format they have tampered with it to the point of no return.

It needs a rest if its ever going to be taken seriously again or the axe.

I wonder who ITV will choose as mentors? As they have a habit of having non singers on there talent shows.
