I like most people found that hysterical at the time but since yesterday I've seen it in a completely different light, if I saw it again I probably wouldn't even laugh. I might be too sensitive but whars yours opinions?

It's still the funniest thing that I've ever seen on BBUK.
I don't see why it would be any less funny after the other David died. David Bowie died when it happened and it was funny. Actually it would have been even funnier if David Gest really did die in the house and then they had to explain to Angie that David died, and she was like "i know" but she didn't understand that they were talking about David Gest, and then they had to explain that BOTH had died.

I didn't find it funny at the time tbh. Not through prudishness or anything, just because I'm a huge Bowie fan so I just felt sadness during the whole thing. I can see the humour in it though and probably would have found it funny if it didn't involve the death of someone I liked so much or felt an emotional attachment to. Now that time's passed though and we're obviously reminded of it, I'll admit I've laughed at some aspects of it recently, such as the 'David's dead' tshirts in the Tiffany thread. There's an undeniable dark humour associated with it all. It doesn't take away from the sadness of either deaths, it's just a case that there can be humour even in really sad situations I think.

Yes, he wasn't dead then, and himself would probably laugh at the irony

I'm a massive Bowie fan (Angie's bitter scorned wife presence ruined the series for me) and have always liked David Gest since he was in I'm A Celeb but still find it funny. Not because the death is funny but the whole denouement of the mix up. The fact that John Partridge was not around to clarify the mistake when he was in the DR with Angie as she got the news, Tiff's OTT crying, Angie not able to go into more detail about which David, David Gest bed ridden but asleep with Darren thinking it was a corspe. Neither David Bowie nor Gest seemed pompous and would have taken everything in the spirit of fun. Gest found the whole thing amusing iirc, so no need for anyone to be angry on their behalf.
I was sad to hear about both of their deaths, two truely great guys and I was worried about David Gest in the house, he looked Ill when he entered and deteriorated (watch the episode when he is in the smoking area giving Stephanie and Jeremy advice and all I could see was a very illl looking man.) He was bed ridden for days culminating in the mix up and forced to abscond from CBB. He would have won imho. However, the David is dead was an epic episode and even though it's tinged with sadness we mustn't forget it was one of the greatest cases of real life comedy of errors we have seen on tv. It's in no way disrespectful to have a set smile when watching it in retrospect. Last edited by alex_front2; 14-04-2016 at 05:13 PM. |

I never found it funny the first time around, but I definitely find it in my poor taste when it's only just happened.
