Default A one-off?

Do you think the success of this years civillian bb was a one-off or do you think this was the start of a new era for BB on C5?

A one-off tbh. It was mainly the cast that carried BB17 - the production wrapped around them was still below par and they failed to deliver on the promise of "a whole new game" (not to mention the fact that the shambolic CBB18 followed straight after).

Definitely a one off. It was the cast.

Yeah it was a massive fluke, it was good in spite of production, not because of.

It was only good because of Jayne and Charlie

I loved Evelyn and Laura too

BBUS 18 and CBB18 were both stains on the format so yes, probably (also I'd say that ~75% of BB17's success came from getting lucky with the boot order)

Hopefully the cast will be just as good next year. I do think the production was better than the last 2 years though

I felt more optimistic before CBB18, but like others have said I now think they got lucky for the most part. With the cast and boot order in particular. CBB18 proved that the producers haven't really changed the way they do things for the better. With the cast though, I wonder actually if it was dumb luck, or if they've made changes within the civilian casting team/how they cast the show etc. Because if so then there's every chance we could have another series like it next year, despite production.

Let's not forget that this is the same production team that made one of their worst decisions in cutting the series three weeks shorter than the two shambolic series that came before it...and for CBB18 of all series.

Yeah the boot order too. The only evictions I was bothered about were Charlie's and Lateysha's. The rest were either deserved, it was their time to go or it was at the end of the series so I didn't mind.

Does anyone else think that production was better than BB15 and BB16 though? I do. Maybe it's just because they didn't interfere as much

Tbh I'd rather have the series we got than an extra three week drag

Yeah I feel the same, for all we know it could have dragged at the end. And even if it wouldn't have, 7 weeks is still more than enough for me when it's on every night so I didn't feel shortchanged by the length

50 days felt too rushed, especially with 18 housemates and it didn't really feel like a natural ending to the series. The last two weeks were practically trying to dwindle the numbers for the final and even then there were still a lot of housemates left at the end. I think it needed another two more weeks at least, either that or have less housemates.

If it was longer/had less housemates then we wouldn't have had annihilation week and all the drama it caused
