Default Do you think a CBB5 type of controversy would happen again?

I'm currently watching CBB17 and am on Winston's eviction. Just watching it he was voted out by his housemates by his homophobic views and his comment on gay couples adopting children was too much. I wondered what would have happened had he not been nominated by Stephanie, Scotty T and Jeremy...

So do you think a similar controversy to that of CBB5 would happen to CBB (or BB) ever again?

Maybe it could be due to homophobia taken too far (Winston), or racism (Jade, Danielle, Jo, Jack, Jackiey vs Shilpa), or due to some other reasons.

Your thoughts?

I certainly hope it won't happen again as BB would probably have learnt their lesson and would probably take measure for it to stop happening...

Certainly not in CBB17. Nobody in the house took Winston seriously anyway so any old-fashioned discrimination wouldn't have really had any effect on anyone. BB15, BB16, CBB15 and CBB18 all had numerous ofcom complaints for how nasty they all were but I doubt anything would ever have the global impact CBB5 had again since BB isn't as big of a franchise anymore.

I doubt it. Reality television has been around for so long now that people have learned to watch what they do/say. More thought goes into how you're coming across or being perceived, it wasn't like that back then.

I doubt they'd let it get to that stage tbh, especially with no live feed to incriminate them. They'd either remove housemates before it go close to it or just not show it.

It's not getting enough viewers for anyone to care at the moment.

It is arguably too that the race row in CBB5 may not have been as big as it was if it wasn't for Jade being at the centre of it (though I still think Jo and Danielle were far worse!). Jade being involved though gave the issue a history and pulled back viewers from years earlier.

(Funnily enough just about to finish watching BB3 - literally got to the final. I couldn't stand Jade when I watched it live 16 years ago but found her quite watchable this time around.)

No because they (sadly) warn them for the stupidest of stuff nowadays so it would never get that far.

Could you imagine a BB where they totally ignore the social norms and stick in openly racist, homophobic, sexist etc etc people with their "total opposites". Gripping viewing but sadly would not happen.
