Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
Rihanna - Umbrella
Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?
Christina Aguilera - Dirrty
Britney - Toxic

general bands of the 00s - Coldplay, Snow Patrol, The Killers...
then loads of popstuff - Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Westlife... :bored:

few dance hits here and there (Call On Me - Eric Prydz, Lola's Theme - Shapeshifters)
bit of lesbians (t.A.T.u.), some teenage angst anthems (Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus, She Hates Me - Puddle of Mudd), terrible charity covers (Amarillo, Band Aid 20)...

And event-wise, the invention of the iPod, downloads, MySpace...Live 8 & Live Earth, the comeback era, the indie/emo fashion.

I think that's a pretty good summary

Britney, the controversy, the music, the product that is Britney herself.
Arctic Monkeys having the fastest selling debut album by a band, dominating the Brit Awards on 2 Ocassions and the NME awards nearly every year.
All these weird acts coming through like Gaga, la roux etc, not weird in a bad way just weird music, image etc.
The domination of pop music, the resurgeance of Indie music.
The war with the gallagher brothers.
I'll add ore in later.

tbqh you, as much as I love t.A.T.u they are not relevant and are certainly not important parts of musical history. Well actually, that's wrong because they were the first Russian pop act to breakthrough internationally but they have only had three top ten singles since 2002.

1. Michael Jackson's death
2. Britney's Music/Breakdown/Circus
3. Madonna
4. Janet Jackson & JT at Superbowl Halftime

I think on an overall international scale the Arctics haven't done anything that has made a HUGE impact even though all the awards and fast selling albums etc. etc.

Take That
Britney
Lily Allen
Duffy
Kylie
Girls Aloud

Then the main one for me will be McFly, but that's just a personal one, and for every other McFly fan! :cheer2: You can't really say they won't be remembered, everybody knows 5 Colours, unless you've lived under a rock, they've broke records (main one being youngest band ever to have a platinum no.1 album, knocking The Beatles off the record) and they have so many fans worldwide..

Thought I'd explain myself incase someone decided to argue -.-

Queens of the Stone Age will always for me anyway be the best band to ever be created
