View Full Version : stupid question about betting odds

Okay - so I'm not quite sure I get betting odds overall but I want to bet at least once this year.

So say that Marcus is odds are 11/10 and Noirin's are 8/11 - does this mean that Noirin is more likely to go? If I placed £20 on Marcus to go what would I get in return if he was evicted?

And another question - say I place a bet now whilst the odds are at 11/10 but then later on this week the odds change; would I get the money back at odds of the 11/10 or at the current odds?

If anyone could help I'd be very grateful

You'd get the money back at odds of 11/10 not the current as thats when you placed the bet.

And I think 8/11 is worse than 11/10 therefore Noirin would be favourite to be evicted.

You'd get £38 back if you bet 20 on marcus at 11/10 and
You'd get £34 back if you bet 20 on Noirin at 8/11.

You'd get more back on Marcus so therefore his odds are worse. You get less back from Noirin so therefore her odds are shorter and more favorable

(someone let me know if i'm completely wrong)

Are you in the Mason's, if you are then you have to take off 4p in the £ and dont forget as Noirin is black you need to add more tax.

At the moment you are down £10.

Oh thanks! So was the person below you joking :puzzled:

Hmm it's only £4 more, maybe it would be worth placing it on Noirin but I just have a feeling it's marcus that's going to go. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part though
