Whenever BB is on, I and most of the other members get the Database Connection Error, and it can sometimes be just 30 seconds or 30 minutes! Today I got it at 22:45, kept checking it every few minutes but I've only just one! Almost an hour of Database Connection Error and a new MySQL error, please can we get the server updated, and it doesn't take alot of members to do it either.

There's not even 90 members online and I still got it!

Are you going to pay for it to be changed?

Great minds think alike!

They've gone awfully quiet for someone who wrote such a long post and is still online. Guess we know the answer!

How much does a new server cost. I reckon that all mebers should put there pennies together and share the price out [with bill payers preission].

i know its just an idea but I dont feel that I should be paying for a website i visit. Mark pays out for any new servers or whatever and i am extremely greatful to him for doing that. We don't need a new server just yet though.

Wilkipedia has a option to donate money to the site to inprove it, maybe that would work on here.

Nope, don't see why I should. No offence to anyone but when you create a website/community etc. if there's a problem you fix it, you know there'll be ongoing costs and with more members obviously comes a server upgrade.

So you're saying when every single night people can't access the website for up to an over an hour it doesn't call for a server upgrade? Heck I even got it an hour or so ago and couldn't access for about 10 minutes with about 80 members online.

When you create a website you can do whatever you like, considering the owner is only young, money can be short. He can do as much or as little as he wants to the website, I don't see why he should loads into the website when he gets very little in return.

If Mark/James owned like, an official website of somewhere, then yes, I would think they need to change the server!

But considering this is a fan website, that works fine when there aren't a pile of newbies moaning and waffling about the same things 24/7 in the BB10 section, I don't see why they should!

Exactly, none of the newbies at least see how much Mark and James actually do to the website. Just leave them alone and stop moaning!! (Not you Fom haha) Xx

Last night Tibb was down for the longest I have ever seen it down for and that was about 45mins. so what? who cares? find something else to do for that time.

BB is over halfway through now and Tibb never crashes during the non bb season, so a new server isnt needed. Also, as Fom mentioned earlier; the owner of tibb doesnt get much (or anything) in return for his work, so relax.

what about members who want extra privileges... like say bigger avatars or something (cant think of a better example :S) can pay for this privilege... at least a certain price the site owner sets. the pennies will add up and help pay for a new server. plenty of sites do it this one could...

I have suggested this before.

There's a site called The Student Room that have a thing called "subs" which give you bigger avatar, a colourful username, a special subs forum etc. You can either pay for a month as a sub, or a full year.

I'm not sure the admins are keen to implement it though.

That'd be a good idea, I'll bet there'll be plenty of people willing to pay for that.

oh sarcasm turns me on

i did say i couldnt think of a better example. maybe something like that site the person above said she is on. or if the size limit is reduced to something like 70 x 70, though it probably wouldnt be popular, i bet thered be plenty willing to pay for the bigger avatars again.

I wasn't being sarcastic, I'm serious. There will be plenty of people who want extra features on the site.

I dont think that many people would do that because the site is mostly good enough as it is.

I think that forum should have like 3 Google ads on a page for like 1 month and members should click on them ads so then money will come in from that and then upgrade the server.

Yeah it does but only if somebody clicks on the link and buys something, they have to buy something from the site for any money to be gained. Not just from simply clicking the link.

Ultimate idea to fix it ... once BB approaches (about April), close down registrations until BB is over. Then we might be able to all actually discuss BB

nice idea but lauren is right. you do miss out on some awesome posters. In fact, most of the regulars that you see during off season registered during april -september

lol. The range of price can span from very low to extremely high. Thousand sounds quite a lot in order to host a forum, especially one that already has 2(?) servers.
