Why not let the public vote for who enters the house?

From say, 50 potentials?

We get to watch each one's VT on the website, and vote for the 12 we'd like in the house

I can't happen because there might be a situation where none of the housemates are related to premier league footballers or endemol employees. It may end up the the house will be full of ordinary members of the general public and we just can't be having that.

I don't trust the public to evict people let alone put people in! It also ruins the whole "who are they putting in?" effect on launch night because it would be in the papers

Said the same weeks ago, a kind of xfactor format auditions (or VT as you mention, which prob work better)choosen by us , then bb can break it down from there. We dont get to know who was picked until launch day.
