View Full Version : Racism in the BB house

The racism in the house is overt. Vanessa, Kamal, Derek and Science ARE BRITISH and therefore share the same culture as the other white house mates. Cultural difference are no excuse - prejuidice and racism are the answer. These people have more in common with Maxwell et al than they do with Makosi or Roberto, and yet they were able to co-exist.
Of course this is difficult for people to admit to and be honest with but our subconcious will always give us away.
Fear of someone who looks different.
Saskai has made constant comments about "you people" and "chips on shoulders". Who are "you people"? Black people of course!!
If you do not live it, then you often have a limited understanding of others experiences. We all experience the dominant "white" culture, but how many white people can truly say they have close friends that are of other ethnic origins? Very few. Many black and asian people have a wider circle of friends, and thus have a broader experience.
SORRY GUYS - RACISM IT IS.:cat:
not another thread about this....
but what saskia said was disgusting. get her out on friday

OH MY GOD!!!!! Dereks a racist!!!! Dereks a RACIST!!!
Did you see him say about Maxwell "his type are all nice on the outside but there's something sinister underneath" basically saying he's racist without ANY evidence except "get your hair cut" to Makosi. So he's basically taking a working class cockney white lad and assuming he's racist because of his accent and who he is.
OH MY GOD!!!! What a racist! Call the thought police!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please Mr Policeman, the nasty wasty black man said a howwible thing about a white person. Please lock him up as I'm sooo sensitive I can't handle people having opinions!!!!

always a touchy subject this and one that shouldnt be debated about as it leads to people getting agressive...we had one about racism and it ended as people couldnt debate properly in it.
yeah people are too serious about things these days..
people should shrug off little comments like malteaser head. its the same as calling somebody 'geeky looking' imo.

There is no racism, read the other threads and reply because i cant be botherd to voice my opinion again!
All im going to say is that people are looking to far into it and missing the true meaning of what was actually said and how they actually ment it.

As I said in the other thread
When I met my white girlfriend, back in 1999, all but 1 of my family dis-owned me. I have not spoken to them since. All because she is white.
When I get married later this year, I will have no family at my wedding, apart from my brother, who respects my decision. My family (Mum, Dad, 5 brothers and 4 sisters) are all racist with exception of my 6th brother.
My wife to be, will have all her family there. The majority of the church will be white.
I'm deeply saddened that my family feel this way, but whether they are there or not, I'm marrying my white girlfriend. I don't see a white girl, I see someone I love and care about.
I've been called by my family, a traitor and a disgrace to black people. I no longer care, I still have black friends who respect my decision. In fact, I don't ever recall it being an issue with them.
Please stop using the racism card for everything. Yes racism exists, but I've seen the other side, where my black family abuse the white race, so try and see it from both sides

Classy.

Though I broadly agree I think we have to be careful here, I think to many white people that could sound as though you suggesting black people can't be racist, when we all know there are way to many jerks in all ethnic groups.
Personally I've been tip-toeing around the subject. I think there is little doubt that racism has entered the Big Brother house in the form of Team Saskia, even it's so far only low key, but there are millions of British people who share their views and values, so discussing the matter is always going to be strained with denial and dismay.

I sympathise. I used to go out with a girl half Jamaican half Barbados. Whenever we walked down the street other white people would think nothing of it generally, but other black people (male and female) would stare at us as if we were dirt, sneer and even occasionally would question my girl about why she was with me.
Of course, it wasn't all one way, white people are more than capable of racism, and we met some very supportive black folks, but what annoys me is when I come on to forums like this one and see people saying things like
"black people can't be racist to whites because they hold no power over them", or
"you must live in the sticks with no black people for miles". Actually, I think it is more the other way around, the way these people naively spout about blacks having no power over the white man. They obviously haven't been out in any major town or city after dark.
More blacks in jail because of racism in the police? Even with the black police complaints commitee and the black police association? They were set up to provide racial equality, although there are no white counterparts. I guess that's why three white policemen had to succesfully appeal against unfair dismissal recently, accusing Ian Blair of 'hanging them out to dry' simply because they were white and he wanted to make an example of them. They recieved a total of £90 thousand, much less than an ethnic in an equivalent case would expect to recieve.
How is being hysterical about racism supposed to 'cure' people of it? Surely if you're going to go on about multi culturalism and tolerance, you should extend it to all aspects of society? Surely, in an ever changing world, people aren't arrogant enough to assume that their way is right, and others should be punished for not being or thinking like them? Haven't we been there before? Like, every time? Same game, different interpretation of the rules. Shouldn't we offer just a little understanding to people who have seen their country change beyond recognition in as little as ten years? Did anyone ask them if they wanted multiculturalism? Surely every country needs to have its own, overriding culture, that must be embraced by anyone who wishes to live here? Surely the preservance of our own culture is the most important thing to anyone with an ounce of patriotism? That is indeed the case in all other countries, but in England we are taught to be ashamed of our country, our history and traditions. Until that changes, people will continue to see things in black and white (pun NOT intended).
Jeez enough of the Racism in the house already it's not like there hasnt been a tons threads about it . But I cant belive Saskia and what she said i hope the crowd boo her on eviction night Out! out! out! :colour:

As you say it comes from both sides and everyone is different.
We need to all get along. I'm black and proud, my fiancee is white and proud. Great!
I was brought up very strictly, but once I grew.......and grew.......and grew.......my father had very little hold over me.
I just hope my other family members can get away.
I don't see racism in the house. I see potential, but I see it from two sides, not one. I'm black, I have a racist father, I know all the comments, all the looks, I see it in some of the housemates,. but nothing has been said.......yet

Ahem! Why should it matter whether the Housemates are British or not. I am sorry but you seem to be Racist aswell and you are also *dun dun dun dun* a hippocrate! Because you are battling on about anti-rasism when you seem racist yourself and you said something about pre juding (prejuidice) and you said " very few white people have friends from ethnic origins" I have friends from ethnic origins and so do many other people I know and the majority of us are white so therefore you have pre judged!!!
