That's a tough question but I think I'd go for One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest because it was a truly great film and it swept all the five major awards at the Oscars.

Oh, and cuz I'm Irish, I loved seeing Brenda Fricker and Daniel Day Lewis win for My Left Foot.

Marion Cotillard for Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose.

This film is stunning and her acting is magnificent, seriously she was so good.

He'd won before for Mystic River a few years back and I personally think that Mickey Rourke should have gotten the nod on this occassion.

1974 i think

biggest miscarriage of justice was
tommy lee jones winning best supporting actor 1993 for the fugetive, when it should have gone to ralph fiennes for schindlers list

I agree with you so much about that whole Ralph Fiennes fiasco - I mean, seriously, what were they thinking?- but the oscars have a tendency to leave me screaming when they make such idiotic decisions. I think that one takes the biscuit though.

There's been a few others that have left me shaking my head in bewilderment....Tom hanks winning for Philadelphia ahead of Daniel Day Lewis, Anthony Hopkins, Liam Neeson and Laurence Fishbourne. Nuts.

Titanic beating La Confidential and As Good As It Gets.... are you having a laugh?

Crash ahead of Brokeback Mountain, Capote and Goodnight and Good Luck?

Ordinary People beating Raging Bull and The Elephant Man?

Ah don't get me started; there's so many more.
