how long has she been on the dole? I don't mind them but if you've been on the dole for more than a year then clearly your being too picky about what work you accept. I don't think it should matter when deciding if she'd be an interesting hm. Hate her guts but she's been good to watch from time to time.

I think Bea was annoyed about her being on the dole because Lisa was making excuses, like there are no trains or buses and finds it hard to get places stuff like that.

Well said loomy. I live in the West Midlands and worked for a company for over 16 years until I was made redundant 5 years ago. I have not worked since and it was not fot the want of trying. But as a disabled person (which I am) and aged 54 it is almost impossible to get a job regardless of experience and qualifications. I wouldn't like to think that I am sponging. So why shouldn't Lisa be in the house?

JSA is only £46 a week or something, hardly enough to go boozing and smoking. plus you can't be on it for 21 years, they wouldn't let you. they'd make you find a job. she must be on other benefits.

No more or less so than rich tax evaders. I'd rather have a go at loaded polititians spending MY cash on a moat, than the thousands of "scroungers" that live in poverty and can't see a way out because the big money polititians can't run a country for anything other than self gain. She will either have been claiming Jobseekers or Income Support, either way she would probably have been entitled to Housing and council tax benefits.
She could also have claimed Disability Allowance depending on her circumstances instead of JSA/IS

As a child they said robots would do all the work when I grew up. My signing on acts as a protest to that empty promise.
Most jobs suck. Most graduates can't get jobs in their chosen profession. Our society doesn't work properly, it needs ripping out and starting again. The monetary cost of goods and services has little basis in the actual value of real things. Moaners with crap jobs should jack them in and start dealing in the black market.

What a ****ing joke of a thread. What does it matter if she is unemployed? Big Brother hasn't got anything to do with unemployment.
Oh and btw, not all people who are unemployed choose to be. Maybe you should consider others before making quite stereotypical and generalistic threads about topics you don't have a clue about.

I agree that people who are unemployed should be given government assistance without question. But Lisa hasn't worked for quite some time and that's because she chooses not to. We've made her too comfortable. I hope everyone on here who is sticking up for her is happy for their hard-earned taxes to go to keep her sitting on her arse watching Jeremy Kyle every day while you're out at work. I'd rather my taxes went to a more worthy cause than a bone-idle, able-bodied woman.

Let's hope you never have to claim the dole, eh? I have literally no qualifications and though I've been with this company for two years + if I became unemployed I would probably struggle to find another job. Over here you could leave school at 15 til this year, so dead-end retail jobs like mine are snapped up very very quickly, and there are always dropouts looking for
work.

Seems that you are the clueless one.
Freddie receives no allowance from his parents, he does live in their house rent free but he has to earn his own spending money.
He has had a paying job too because he previously worked as a door to door salesman, now he has several website ventures that he works on. He has done more work in the past 5 years than Lisa has done in 20.
Being from a rich background certainly can make life easier and provide a better education but Freddie's life is in no way similar to Lisa's. He has been brought up to work for what he wants (I believe the Fisher's are good people), where as she has lived on handouts.
The biggest difference between the two though is that Freddie was raised to be a decent and productive member of society, that he has come from a rich background isn't his fault. Lisa has no wish to be decent or productive at all and that she makes no effort to look for work is her fault.

I have no problem with my taxes going to people who need them, who are unemployed through no fault of their own.
But when someone says they havent worked in 20 years...something is very wrong.
Yes, right now jobs are thin on the ground, and very hard to come by, Im very glad I have mine (which I cant actually be fired from, and where there will always be demand) but it has not always been like this, and if she had been actively seeking work for the whole 20 years, there is more chance of winning the lottery than not finding even ONE fast food job.
This is, of course considering that she really has not had A job in that long, which she has boasted about a few times...I find it more likely she has had a few dead end jobs, really...

Absolutely of course they should. Of course that is exactly what you want is someone to get a job.
Better yet a job that is generating plenty of income and in her case actually brings money into the UK from elsewhere.
Its very good.
Think about this - if and when Lisa is evicted her Friday night will generate thousands and thousands into the economy from lucozade sales to the cameraman earning a days pay and overtime and even things like television sales and broadband accounts.
Its massive. Massive money generated by Lisa doing this job.
Now imagine if she won. The tax money she would pay into the government would be a nice slice back after all.
She may not generate the multiple millions that each member of The Spice Girls did (which would make for an astonishing amount of cash into the economy and thousands of jobs and government funds),
but,
Lisa will, after all, make big bucks and will be near the top percentage of people driving the UK economy this Summer.
Seriously.
