I thought the Scissor Sisters were amazing! REM were really good 2!! Really everyone was brilliant! x
REM were outstanding - and I'm going to see them in Hyde Park next Saturday. Can't wait! Pink Floyd were incredible too.

i thought it was excellent and that everyone took part in live 8 in little way if you know what i mean by that ? but of course more than others for example the celebraties who did a fantastic job and have definetly raised awareness to poverty i thought that robbie williams got the crowd going and then peter kay did great. But then again so did evryone else

The Who couldn't have had better warm up acts.
Robbie Williams is a master at working audiences to a fever pitch and keeping them there. It was a magnificent performance from him. He puts his heart and soul in to his performance... never seen many singers with so much energy!

Pink Floyd were amazing!
Joss Stone was also very good and The Who as always rocked!
Didn't like Robbie but then I never do! Great performer, but I just don't like him.

What can I add to this.
I remember Live Aid so well - and I thought it wouldn't have the same magic, but I was wrong.
I was moved to tears in seconds by it. Absolutely wonderful.
Low points: sorry Pete Doherty destroyed Children Of the Revolution. Couldn't hear him for a start. A huge missed opportunity for him and an insult to the memory of Marc Bolan IMHO.
High points: where do we start?
Sgt Pepper - fantastic
U2 - fantastic
Coldplay - absolutely wonderful - how cute is Apple?
Annie Lennox - I was completely wrecked by her rendition of 'Why' over the film
Keane - great
Scissor Sisters - energetic and brill
Robbie - great crowd performance - who else would have DARED to do the Freddie 'We will Rock you' bit. Wish he's sung more and held out the mike a LITTLE less - but I'm being a bit picky.
I admit the Who were quite good - but I don't like Daltry or Townsend. Met them many years ago when I was 15 and they were obnoxious, arrogant and disgusting. Never say I don't hold a grudge.
PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So bloody amazing, I had to dig out my old Dark Side cassette this morning.
It was so surreal (well they always were) seeing these old blokes delivering a performance that just blew me away.
I know I have probably missed someones great performance, but I was buzzing at the end. Why did it have to end?
Why wasn't I there?
And why the hell did my Freeview BBCthree go off channel just when I was going to record the re-run onto my hard drive at 7pm last night???:bawling:
Well done to all, well done Bob, and let's hope it has the desired effect.
I don't share the beliefs of the nay-sayers. 1985 did change the attitude of the west man in the street to poverty in Africa and our personal responsibilty. The Free Nelson Mandela campaign worked by putting intolerable pressure on the Apartheid regime.
The Civil Rights Movement changed the face of most of the US - (although they still have an arrogant and insular fatal flaw in their national WASP conscience).
All in all July 2nd 2005 was a day to cherish and remember.
Loved it, absolutely loved it.:hello::bouncy::hello::bouncy::hello:

Saskia took what Ricky Gervais said very well on BBLB Today, good on her. Robbie was great, probably the best performance of the night the crowd really loved him.
ROB, I remember Live Aid as well, and I didn't think that Live 8 could live up to the memory of it - but I'm so glad I was wrong.
The low spot for me was Pete Doherty coming on stage. I also thought he ruined (my favourite Bolan song) Children Of The Revolution - not only was it a bad performance, but I really don't like him at all. I don't understand why people see guys like him as a hero.
I cried when Bob Geldof brought on the young woman, who as a baby 20 years ago, had been given just 10 minutes to live, but she is now a beautiful young woman. That was so moving, and I loved it when Sir Bob said "Don't let anybody tell you that this doesn't work."
Robbie Williams, as ever, did put on a great show, although I don't like him personally, but I have to give him credit for his performance (but I bet security had their hearts in their mouths when he came down to the crowd)!
The Who of course were great, Pink Floyd blew me away and REM were as excellent as I expected. I also really enjoyed The Killers, and Madonna's performance was outstanding. Velvet Revolver were good, but I'm not sure that they are popular enough over here to get the crowd really going.
Ricky Gervais was brilliant as ever, as was Peter Kay. How must Ricky have felt when Madonna said that she was excited to have met him and that he was her favourite comedian ever?!? I bet there's not many people who Madonna would say that she would be happy to scrub floors for!

Ah, I loved The Floyd reunion. Liked how Roger Waters dedicated Wish You Were Here to Syd Barrett.
Wished after their set I had recorded it. But I found a download (http://yee.is-useless.org/Live%208%20-%20Pink%20Floyd%20(webcast).wmv).

Nice one James!! I'll be having that!
Do the Floyd fans out there think there's any chance of a proper long term reunion, and possibly a tour!! Shivers up my spine last night when Wish You Were Here was played. Could've done with following it up with Shine On, but I guess they're keeping that for the tour!! LOL

I think it might have been a one off.... but I agree Slartibartfast about shivers up the spine. It was incredible to see them together.
You wouldn't have guess they hadn't played together since 1984, and when they started playing it was electric and the chemistry was fantastic.
I was just so glad they had a group hug at the end.
Bands that plays as well live as they do in the recording studio will always have my respect!
I so hope that Floyd might tour - come hell or high water, I will be there if they do, but I'm not surethat they will. Nick Mason was interviewed earlier on in the day and asked if this was a new chapter for the band (can't remember the exact words) and he wouldn't be drawn on it really, except to say, "It's not meant to be."
Wish You Were Here is one of my favourite songs of all time, and I have loved Pink Floyd for many years. I am really crossing my fingers for a tour - they sounded so amazing at Live 8, still had all the magic.

There was a lot negative comments on BBC boards.... it was a great show and for the best of reasons.
When the little girl from the live aid video appeared on the stage.... my eyes just welled up.
Wonderful television and a moment that makes you think!

It was... and it was amazing.... I always thought she had died.... she only had ten minutes to live without help.
Now I know the money I gave then was well spent. If it saved one life that is good enough me.
Life is priceless!
Yes it was - It had me in tears when that girl came on.
