I'm Irish myself, but lived in London for a few years. It's an hours journey. However, Lisa seems to think it's a big deal dragging them all the way down. She must be worried that the cost petrol will leave them brassic for the week!!!!! Hence, the horsedrawn caravan!!

I don't think Lisa was referring to just her own family but to all the families in general. Perhaps her family are old and frail or perhaps they do struggle to make ends meet. They might not have the luxury of jumping into a car like some.
