This seems like a bizarre film to remake. First of all the original isn't great and was just a showcase for special effects and design which now obviously feel dated. I'm not sure why they felt this look would still sell today.....

it's not a remake it's a sequel. I loved the original as a kid but it's really outdated these days. This one looks intriguing though.
