Tibb Audio Drama - 2 new characters added

I was thinking about doing some sort of game or something but I couldn't think up of anything but then I had an idea. Why not do an Audio Drama? It'd be different from the games and lot's of Tibb people could get involved if they want.

An audio drama is basically what it says on the tin, every character is voiced by someone but there's no visuals. It's kinda hard to explain. If I were to do it though and people were interested we could have auditions and such and tibb members could get involved in the acting and the writing and such if they so wished?

Here's an example of what an audio drama is like (Not the greatest example but Youtube hasn't got a great variety)

I haven't got a clue what it's gonna be about, I dunno whether to do one big drama or do like a serial TV Show-esque one? If enough people are interested in doing it then we can decide what to do as a group.

It's what I want really, I want it to be a bit of a community project on Tibb that's why I haven't come up with a story since I want it to be all created by the members.

The thing with the medium as well as that it allows for a lot of creativity, like we could have a story set in the past or in the future or in space ETC since it's an audio drama we wouldn't need to make sets or anything.

I really got faith in the potential of this.

I've had a few ideas about this. Due to the majority of tibbers being teens we should consider setting it around teens. An original idea what I quite like would be to do like a mix of Skins and Being Human and set it in a High school for supernatural beings perhaps? Not the best idea but there'd be a rich mythology already in place to work with.

We could always do a story set around Tibb members like what other members have done in creative writing.

I decided to develop the idea a bit more and so far this is what I've got.

Midnight (working title)

The setting of the Drama is Midnight University. A school away from normal humans where less human students can be themselves without hiding. The tone's going to be very much like a mix of Skins and Being Human, so a dramedy of sorts.

Characters

Ben
Ben is one of the main characters of Midnight. He is a human who has psychic powers, He can read people's thoughts and move things with his mind. His central conflict will be based around the fact that he doesn't really fit anywhere, He's not human enough to be human and not supernatural enough to fit in completely with other students. For his voice I imagined him with a scottish or irish accent, although anyone can apply for the role if they want regardless of how they speak.

Lara
Lara is a vampire, She is another central character. Lara is very graceful and lady-like, despite her vampiric nature she's a nice girl and befriends Ben quite quickly. She drinks blood rarely but when she does she drinks human blood, However she only feeds off people who have done wrong and rarely kills them. Lara speaks in quite a posh elegant manner and she rarely uses slang. Her dialogue will be a lot different to everyone else's in term of style and content.

For example any other character might say 'I'm not gonna kill him, he's done nothing wrong. Lara would say 'I will not end his life, he is guilty of nothing'. Anyone who voices her will need to be able to speak in a somewhat regal fashion.

Orion Demacles (pronounced Dem-a-cleese)
Demacles is the head of the University. He's an Immortal who has lived since ancient times. He created the school to give supernatural teens a place to be themselves. He is authoritive and wise but very warm and likable. I haven't really thought much about his voice, so if this role takes your fancy go wild with it.

Frederick (Freddy to friends)
Freddy is Lara's eccentric brother.He can be quite camp and flirtacious, He takes a fancy to a fair few characters and outragiously flirts with them all. He's a bit of a Lothario and loves to use puns, Euphemisms and Double Entendres when he talks. Freddy's voice needs to have a posh edge to it like Lara's but he is nowhere nearly as regal. He uses a lot of slang and has quite a filthy mouth.

Esmerelda (Izzie for short)
Izzie is a witch, she can be quite immature but ultimately she is endearing. She's a bit clumsy and her magic is known to often go wrong, however when her magic works she is among the most powerful students at Midnight. I haven't got anything in mind for the voice so if you're interested in the role go for it.

Catrina
Catrina is a Werewolf, She's known for her beauty and her rather tempestous personality. She's very direct with people and shows an interest in Ben early on. She's friends with Freddy but considers Lara a bit of a frenemy.


Prerequisites
Actor: The only thing you need to be an actor in this is a microphone and a program to record your voice with (I reccomend Audacity, it's free and good). Other then that you just need to be reliable and make sure you have enough time to do it if you want to have a large role.

Format
it's gonna be in an episodic format with each episode around 2-3 minutes long. This way it's not a heavy workload for everyone involved and everyone will get the chance to have their own episode.

None Acting roles
If you don't want to be an actor, there's still plenty of roles left.

Writers: This is an important job, as a writer you'll be able to write entire episodes. If you aren't that confident or cannot think you can do it then you can always assist with the writing by coming up with interesting ideas for the stories and characters.

Artists/Graphic Makers: This is a fun job. In this job you will have to create the logo for Midnight, as well as pictures for the Youtube videos. I'll elaborate more on this role in due time.

There will probably be more roles in due time.

Auditions
Auditions will begin when the main characters and story has been finished (If the idea takes off). If you audition it's very likely that you will get a role. If you want to be involved with the writing or any non-acting roles please either U2U me or register your interest in the thread.

It's all a bit basic at the moment but I'll add more characters and production roles soon. If you have any ideas for characters please offer them up (Shaun's idea has been noted).

I wouldn't mind cobbling it all together, more so if I could get to use music where appropriate :tongue: Sound effects would probably be needed (things like doors closing, foot steps etc)

That'd be brilliant, I was thinking about this earlier. The sound effects won't be too dificult sicne we can create them or download them and I was planning to use a lot of music anyway so if you want to put it together, go crazy with it. :bigsmile:

There's a new character been added as well to any prospective actors.

I've added two more main characters, There's gonna be one more male main character and then I'm looking for one or two more writers. I've tried to keep the descriptions of characters quite vague as I want the writers and I to decide where to take the characters.
