Could some smart people PLEASE help me. My stupid fecking laptop keeps not playing my DVD's and something like this pops up

D Drive could not play blah due to an I/O Device Error. I thought it was just a disc, but it's been at least 10 DVD's now, although strangely my Take That one's work fine.

But movies are fecked,it won't play my Grey's Anatomy!

So I typed I/O Device Error into Google and got this

http://www.tech-faq.com/io-device-error.shtml

So I did what it say a few days ago and it STILL isn't working. Please please please someone help,I'm going mad!

it MIGHT be to do with the drivers. you might not have the drivers installed that are needed to play dvds...

first try download a player thats compattible with dvds like realplayer...or google for another dvd player and download...then try to play it. if it still downt work then google for dvd drivers...i cant helpt you in depth with that because a) i dont know enought geeky stuff to actually help in depth and b) im a bit woozy at the mo

ask a geeky friend to help you or do some more digging around google. if i remember tomorrow ill ask around for you. good luuuuuuuuuuuuck

Doubt it that's cos I've had this laptop for nearly 3 years now and it has always played DVD's fine. It has just stopped in the last while. Maybe a month? Oooh I remember it didn't work on July 5th cos I wanted to watch a DVD to mope about the tour ending and it wouldn't work, lol! Also I have Windows Media Player,InterVideo WinDVD,QuickTime Player and Realplayer

Thanks for the help though

And LOL Hannah :P

got these step by step instructions

1. http://www.squidoo.com/io-device-error

2. http://www.ehow.com/how_5206064_fix-io-device-error.html

try the one you find simplest first and if it doesnt work then try the other... good luck again xD

lame :/ ive skimmed through other links but they didnt really seem as helpful as those two... if neither worked im at a loss. then again im not very computer literate anyway xD

if youre in no hurry to get it working sign up to a geeky site like http://geekstogo.com and explain everything there, including the links youve tried that havent worked... you could google for some other active forums like that one to ask the same question so you have a higher chance of getting some helpful responses.

if youre after a (possibly) quicker fix youre best to take it into a shop and demand they work their magic! i doubt itd cost that much to fix but get a quote first.

Have you tried hitting it? That sometimes works. Lol. I am relatively no use in situations like this but I hope you get it sorted Laura.

Yes,a lot  It's weird cos it plays my Take That DVD's but none of my other ones, maybe it knows I'd throw it out the window if it didn't play those... Lol thanks Baz :)
