View Full Version : Freddie and the double standards of forums and the public

Although I'm a Freddie fan and whilst I support him through thick and thin, I realise the guy has behaved like an idiot the last 2 weeks or so (particularly the last week).
Yes - he has grown too arrogant, he has been far too much under Bea's thumb and cringe-making with her
but so what?
Is this really any worse than other HMs
Bea - need I say more - most appalling HM in BB history - lying, manipulative, bullying, turning on her friends when it suits her - an out and out sociopath who should never have made it on the show if BB's psychologists had done their job properly
Lisa - now lying low and appearing to rise above it - but early in the show systematically isolated and bullied Fredie for weeks on end, shouting at him, nearly headbutting him - all now conveniently forgotten by people on here with short memories, always plotting and scheming and showing what kind of person she really is when she was up for eviction
Charlie - has got away with the most this show. Not at all the cheeky chappy he tries to portray. a nasty snitching behind everyone's backs, lying person (ie saying Lisa has never bitched about Freddie) and using emotional blackmail to win - implying he needs the money for his mum in a coma . Again, all glossed over by BB - why is he on the show if his mum is in a coma? A question I guarantee that Davina will never ask him
Sophie - plenty of faults glossed over . Why did she get together with kris in the house - fake romance which BB has said is not allowed and yet was tolerated. Why did BB break its won rules?
Hypocritical bitching of people behind their backs - notably Marcus whom she said she liked and went into the diary room to support but then slagged off behind his back. Again, glossed over by BB
Siavash - did nothing at the beginning of the show when freddie was being badly treated, unfailry accused Tom of stealing a drink cos he was jealous of Noirin fancying him, cheated on his girlfriend on National TV and appears to have got away with it. In any other year would have been hated and evicted to huge boos
Marcus - to be fair, the one character in there who has got hammered each time he has done something wrong. His portrayal has been the fairest - highly flawed but great HM
David - not too many complaints but the guy does seem desperate for acceptance and allying himself with Lisa. The guy has bitched tho as much as anyone and plotted with Lisa - again all glossed over by BB
Rodrigo - the least worst of Lisa's team - massively petulant and childish which to be fair has been shown but to my mind got away with a lot. Think of throwing the bottle at Charlie and pouring oil on his bed. Nevertheless, he has shown he has empathy with people even if he disagrees with them - think his challenging of Noirin's behaviour over Siavash, think of his recent discussion with Bea over her callous treatment of Freddie
So to reiterate - what about Freddie's behaviour is so appalling as compared with Lisa's, Bea's or Charlie's. For me, there is no difference - it is simply that BB have chosen to edit it in such a way that his behaviour looks worst.
And I would suggest this is because they do not want him to win. It happened last year with Rex - any maverick HM who looks like winning is always brought crashing down. They cannot afford to let them win.
Freddie is no worse than a number of the other HMs but is being unfairly singled out.

Yeah, I could see there was something about Bea at the start, didn't take melong to realise she was a Sociopath, I posted a thread about it ages ago.

You wont get many answers to this thread as some of the posters here just like to throw out one liners, usually hate ones

Freddie IS this year's Rex.
Bea comes and ruins him, like Nicole did to Rex
All that is your own opinion, OP, with very little based on actual fact. You blast the HM's you don't like and dramatize many things for effect (eg, Lisa nearly head butted Halfwit), yet you forget certain negative facts about those you do like.
Halfwit is up for eviction because he isn't liked by the people in the house. Fact. Deal with it.

The thing about freddie is he is very vocal about his opinions of everyone and their motives ,game plans and desire to win and in that he has seemingly become judgemental ,also he has to be fair taken charlie aside and warned him about lisa he bitches about lisa alot, and in that surely hes doing exactly what he accused her off, personally thats why I really dont like him anymore,he needs a reality check

we know he isn't liked in the house but why don't you try answering the question instead of side-stepping it? perhaps because the truth is too uncomfortable to deal with

OP, you have merely glossed over Freddie's fault, come on dissect him
As for being up for eviction it was his fellow housemates who out him up, its a game, dont forget it

Oh I didn't realize it was a rule that I had to answer every question - but seeing you asked:
I think Halfwit is the worst HM. He is arrogant, condescending, easily led, irritating, thinks he is too clever by half and has double standards. He is a schemer and plotter, and is paranoid. Will that do?

What I find appalling is how many people on the forums have a double standard. They blast housemates for things that they do themselves.

Freddie not only not worse he is in there coping with an environment which is ok for others but would have taken a long while for him to get used to.
When I say enviornment that means the hms too. That is why he went around asking questions. Kris now understands I think when Lisa is told of this she is going to regret somethings. Mind you she might not knowing her..

the fact that people accepted freddie in the beginning and warmed to him even though he was obviously public school educated and led a financially gifted life was amazing in itself ,people really liked him because he seemed fair and not objectionable, but hes ruined it and because people went out on a limb to support him it makes you dislike him tenfold;

maybe because of his sheltered upbringing ie public school? it really doesnt prepare you for the real world,HOWEVER freddie had his chance and now hes become the posh idiot who thinks he knows everything but really just likes the sound of his own voice ,he is such a hypocrite

I agree with the majority of your points jeg but can't answer your fundamental question - sorry.
I think the house (in general) is fairly low on wit and intellect and Freddie sounds posh and can be grating when he isn't sure what to say so he was an easy target from the off.
Yes, he then got more confident as it became clear that despite their best efforts, the public - unlike many of the HMs did like him. As time went on he grew in confidence to the point where he wasn't just allowing himself to be the whipping boy and would stand up for himself. Sometimes successfully and rationally...sometimes not. Again that is not a crime but may have further annoyed the lowest denominator.
As for the viewing public and this forum in particular... they have a tendency to support the bland and stereotypical historically...look at the support for Sophie and Charlie if any proof is needed. It seems that people are prepared (in some cases) just to completely ignore the 2 faced backbiting and volleys of inaccurate abuse dished out by some HMs because 'he's a cute geordie gay with a sick mum' or she's got a 'nice pair'...bit sad

You can hardly class university as a sheltered upbringing, okay while not exactly opening him up to all the pressures of living in the real world it does open him up to a wide range of stimuli and people. And the BB house is not exactly the real world.
If you want the truth I think Freddie is an act, he went in playing the bumbling buffoon, who went about deliberately annoying people by following them around asking why they didnt like him, then when he knew the public felt sympathy for him, a few head to head evictions under his belt, he slowly became the real Freddie analysing everyone elses potential moves and plans, sharing them with us through the diary room, we liked that because he had through previous chats all through his characters development created a rapport with the public.
Incidentally he would have got three chances with me with that "Dude" cr@p, then I think I would have been removed.
Using the same arguement automatically follows Marcus should be granted leeway coz he lives with his mum and his dolls.

I agree with everything you said. Bea has got to be the most hated housemate of all time for me. Her plan all along was to befriend Freddie and drop him when it suited her. I hope she loses friends in real life or they become aware what sort of person she is. Pathetic.
