View Full Version : Freddie is misunderstood

Yes, yes, I expect some flack, and as much as I have cringed at some of his antics, here is my take on Freddie (seeing as he is up for eviction on a one-to-one). I couldn't put my finger on why I have always warmed to him despite his ups and downs, but here it is:
Rather than being just some kind of 'idiot' that some people seem to see, for me he comes across as more of a 'little boy lost'.
He really has been a HM who has morphed into different aspects of his character depending on the circumstances. This to me suggests a spontaneous, genuine sort of person who doesn't give a sh*t about the game itself.
He has worn his heart on his sleeve. He has idiosyncrasies, and difficulty expressing himself which to some (many?) make him look like a bit of a pr*ck. He genuinely thinks he is trying to help in certain situations, even if he sometimes looks meddling or even like a fool. He was drawn in by Bea because he is easily led. He did get cocky, but as a reaction to having been downtrodden for 5 weeks. He sometimes does think he is cleverer than he is and gets above his station (his posh accent makes this look even more 'snooty' than it may be).
He is up for having a laugh in the house and being a 'rebel', but he can also come across as a really chilled guy.
So, many sides to his character, but ultimately a kind soul and a little boy lost in there. Has probably had a sheltered life and, as much as he is rich and posh, is actually quite vulnerable in that respect. His latest reactions support this.
He is 23, immature and probably learning quite alot about himself. I think he's been on the biggest journey out of the lot of them.

I know what you mean he has a condition and I won't go into it as I am sure all know about it.
Thank goodness you understand.

I agree with much of what you say. His faults are that he became too arrogant about surviving nominations and that he has behaved in an immature way. He has also become eaten up with hatred for Lisa and with love for Bea.
Yes he has bitched - so have many others.
But these are hardly hanging offences.
Listening to some people you would think the guy had murdered someone.
Despite what people say, there is a lot of inverted snobbery in people's criticism of him.
The reference to "posh" Freddie, the talk of his "patronising" voice - if he spoke like David, would there be this level of criticism? I suggest not.
This is someone who is one of the most interestingly eccentric and unusual HMs we have ever had on the show - and BB have quite frankly treated him with contempt.
He offers far more than Lisa, David or Sophie do the house - and IMO more than Charlie and Rodrigo with their contrived romance.
But what has endeared me to him most of all is the way he has endured hardship on the show. Some of it has been self-inflicted, grant you. But what he has gone through is some of the worst and nastiest forms of bullying, belittling and undermining that I have ever seen a HM experience.
Those first few weeks with Lisa have been erased from history - by BB and some on this Forum. But I remember people on here and elsewhere saying it was the worst from of collective bullying anyone has ever experienced. It amazes me that any fair-minded person can simply dismiss this and yet some do.
And as for Bea. Words cannot describe the intense hatred I have for that woman. Whilst some HMs have wound me up big time, I have never felt such contempt for anyone on the show. She is the first HM I have ever seen who has absolutely no redeeming qualities. I only hope she gets the biggest boos in BB history.
However, I know this is only a game show and that Freddie can eventually walk away from the situation - I hope he realises when he gets out how appallingly he has been treated by her.
He is certainly not perfect but for me one of the most interesting HMs we have ever seen and the sort of HM that the show should be desperate to keep in there. The fact that they're not tells you everything you need to know about the mentality of the shows' producers.
I have a lot of admiration for him despite his many faults.

for me he hasnt changed apart from going a bit over the top with what he was saying to lisa, it was all true
he talks so much sense but people just basically dont listen to him!
hes a really nice genuine person, hes so funny and eccentric, plus this he is basically just always right in things he says about different situations!

Jegmeister - a really well made post. I agree with it all. And yes it does seem that the BB producers want him out (they don't want a rich toff winning).
As for Bea - your words are enough.....and the day will come......

I agree. To me, he has also been the most consistantly level headed housemate. His observations on people are really quite good too. But unfortunately the people who can't appreciate someone unless they drink with them at the pub will never get someone like Freddie.

Can we please stop throwing Freddie simpathy votes? No other HM has had as many chances as him... that being said Marcus is still worse then him.

No one here has said anything about sympathy. I have voted for Freddie and will vote for Freddie this time too. And NOT ONE of those votes has been a sympathy vote. I genuinely like the guy. I have since the moment he walked in the door.

Thought this needed *bumping* after the HL show I just watched tonight...
People need to understand Freddie - instead of spouting spineless cr*p behind their little laptops...
Who the ***** would not react in a similar way if someone you REALLY fancied and liked, and had been hugging you 2 days before, pulled that sh*t on you?....Freddie has problems expressing himself (all been discussed before) and is immature - he is NOT 'mad' or 'insane' (and I'll state now I immensley dislike buffoons on here trying to pass it off like that). He was having an emotional hell of a time beacuse he was cruelly rejected....that was his way of expressing it and he was having panic reactions and deep upset....totally obvious by his body language - no acting whatsoever.....

Some politician!! What's he gonna do if someone in parliament asks him an awkward question or says they don'y like him? Have a panic attack or burst into tears? For the sake of him and everyone else please vote him out Friday. He really makes me cringe now and I never liked him much in the first place.
