View Full Version : Can anyone explain this about Bea?

Bea said in her VT, the day she went into the house, that Science Fiction "offends" her.
Now, I can understand someone not liking science fiction (maybe not their cup of klingon blood wine) or whatever, but how can it "offend" her?
In what way has Sci-Fi "offended" her? :conf2:

I dont have a clue why it offends her...if she doesnt like it, dont watch it, but dont hold it against people who do:shrug:

Bea will be offended by herself when she watches the highlights on the outside, she will spend the rest of her days analysing her actions at home.
But she will get by. Because she will drill her friends none stop untill they just agree with her.
That girl has nothing to learn about herself full stop, worst HM ever.

She probably thinks it's a geeky type thing to like. I get the impression she's not slow to stereotype people.

I dont believe she said that cause thats a NEGATIVE thing to say and as we all know Bea aint NEGATIVE she is a positive person, most positive person she knows lol.
That gotta be the 1st time ive ever heard of someone being offended by sci-fi lol maybe sci-fi has done something to her in the past? maybe sci-fi is the name of 1 of her hippy mates whose not kool enough to live on a bus with her!

It's the fact that it actually "offends" her (quote) that I don't understand.

A lot of things offend Bea.
I suppose being an energy vampire she can't handle the truth that sci-fi offers her about her vampiric nature.

So funny that she hates sci fi when she decided to create her own little bit of fiction by refuting the claim that man has walked on the moon. She did do that one night right? And sure that confirms that she reads conspiracy theories and sci fi. She's such a plank.... lord give me strength.

Who knows what she means? So much of what she says is unfathomable and ambiguous. Almost everything about her offends me.

Yes, she did a whole monologue about the moon landings being fake and there was a thread about it at the time. She said then that science fiction was "a waste of time". I mentioned then that Arthur C Clark had said that often, science fiction had gone on to become science fact, and he knew a little more about the subject than Bea.
Besides, anyone who doesn't like Bladerunner offends me :-)

She said that she doesn't like any sort of fiction, including science fiction, because it lets people live in a fantasy world instead of reality.
This from the woman who has no idea of the reality surrounding her!
she's probably feels offended because evil characters are always depicted in a bad light

true just to add a little from a chat with Marcus one night (the night she enlightened all us gullible fools about the moon landings hoax) she also said it also provides a venue for people to escape from reality, as opposed to getting on with their neighbours etc.
She also feels we shouldnt really being exploring space because the earth has enough problems on its surface without wasting time effort and money on space travel etc.

I love the fact we explore space. We invest a fraction in space exploration of the amount we spend bombing and fighting each other. It's what makes us human, the search for knowledge, who are are, where we came from, what else is out there... of course I wouldn't expect Bea to think about anything too deeply. Nothing that doesn't affect her directly would have any interest for someone like Bea.

one thing that bugs me... she is not a hippy, she's a fauxhemian. A few bangles doesn't make you a hippy, just a sad follower of your friends fashion.
