No way is she a drunk. Yup, she enjoys drinking and as we say in Dublin gets a "goo" on her when she's drinking, i.e. wants the drinks to keep flowing.

I also think she's highly entertaining when she's squiffy. If you think about how booze is rationed in there, her tolerence is going to drop and she's going to get drunk easier.

I would have quite a few friends and acquaintances who I reckon have a drink problem or are working their way towards alcoholism. I also have friends for whom drink is a problem - meaning they black out, or start fights, or cause trouble generally - some of them have quit and some drink maybe 5 times a year...and would probably do something they have to apologise for on 3 of those occasions.

I very much enjoy my booze. My da was an addict and so I am acutely aware of how much I drink. Some weeks I wouldn't have anything, some weeks I'll have the odd glass, and then there's weeks where I'll exceed the WHO definition of binge drinking many nights in a row.

But then, I live in Dublin...where we're almost all boozehounds! If I lived in Italy I'd have had a million interventions by now.
