I was pretty shocked, if i was his mum i'd slap him round the face. Then again he might pull the killer death move on me, or the flying kick of death or even worse; he might kill me with his eyebrow

I laughed out of shock, it was kind of amusing because it was obviously full of love, in a slightly deranged way, but i definitely thought 'wo-ho-ho-woah! that was disrespect!' I think Marcus's shut off point from dissing his mum to look cool when he was fifteen never got switched on, it was total teenage rebellion but it just looked unnesescary- c'mon now marcus! it was a tad too rude.
He gave his Mum an home for god sake, not many do that these days, they bung em in retirement homes.

Sorry just asking. How come Tom is your favourite housemate of the series? I could have practically counted how many minuties he was in there.
I didn't really see enough of him for him to be classed as even a good housemate. I guess it makes more sense than when Steph was peoples favourites last year.

If I spoke about my mum like that she would be appalled. Marcus seems to have a big chip on his shoulder with regards to the way he talks to and about women.
Some of the terms he uses are ,quite frankly, sexist and dispicable.
I can understand how people find his one liners funny but how can anyone defend the way he acts and talks about women. He has no respect. If he wins BB what sort of message is this sending out to people and what sort of people are voting for him.

some people have that kind of relationship with their mothers.
My God my mother (god rest her soul) was a nightmare to me, a little Irish women she would terrorize my friends, calling me a little bollox, telling my friends she thinks I'm gay because I didn't have a girlfriend for 6 months and she had a mouth like a sailor with tourettes.
But we were close and we both called each other names, it's endearing

BB isnt looked at as a social experiment anymore in the sense that we'll see what sort of people the public look up to.
Its pretty much wheel out the freaks and which ever one makes us laugh gets the win which i suppose is bad in its own right but hey thats wat BB has turned into.

It was obviously said with affection. Different people have different senses of humor. They might tease each other like that all the time.
And for all of you that are shocked... have you never in your life called a friend "bitch" or anything like that in jest or out of affection? It is the same thing. They are obviously close and SHE raised him... so I would imagine she may share his sense of humor. If not, I bet she at least understands it. He allows her to live with him so that should say something about their relationship. I know a lot of people who wouldn't let their parent live with them.

People seem to think that a son/mother relationship is always the same.
I'm willing to bet his mother has the same humour, she probably calls him a wanker affectionately, some people can't express affection by hugging and being gentle, they express it with jest or insult.
It's like if someone spends lots of money on you, you might say "Oh, you idiot, you shouldn't have"
That's not disrespectful!

I found it funny. As has been said on here before, they obviously have a good relationship otherwise she wouldn't have gone on on the first place, and who are we to judge how other people talk to each other?
My husband calls me names all the time - Ugly, Fatty, Dogbreath etc - and if people who didn't know us heard him they would probably be shocked and say how disgusting it is (as I'm sure a lot of you are thinking and judging as you read this) but I know that it is all said in jest, and is just part of the banter of our relationship.
And as for people getting on their high horse about him disrepecting women - I just don't see it.
Just accept that not everybody has the same sense of humour. People are too quick to be offended these days, and some need to jump back down off the politically correct bandwagon.

I've got the kind of relationship with my Mom that I could call her that. Harmless fun in my opinion. Guess it varies from person to person.
Relationships and communication are not simply about the meanings of words taken in isolation.
It is entirely possible for two people who love (or even simply like) each other to have a relationship where such comments are perfectly normal or acceptable.
I would say it is highly likely that Marcus' mother laughed when she heard it.
I would say it is also highly likely that Marcus' mother would laugh heartily at some of her "defenders" in this thread.

People shouldn't take it seriously, his mum said on bblb that she know's what he's like.
When he said that to her it wasn't real disrespect, it's just how they interact. Just because we don't understand how someone interacts with another person doesn't make it rude or bad. Something we find unacceptble might be acceptable for two other people.
I wouldn't be surprised if he walks in the door sometimes, and she say's "What time do you call this, dirtbag?

At the end of the day, certain words only have bad connections to it because of how the world is today.
Sometimes a word considered bad can be converted into something that show's affection. While I wouldn't go as far as calling my mum anything like that, I do make fun of her sometimes but it's just a joke and we laugh about it afterwards and she does the same. We're not out to get each other or anything like that, we're very close. I'd say it's something similar with Marcus and his mum (just with words that are considered bad by the masses) They call each other these names but don't really mean them, they're just having a laugh.
Why can't people see that? Not every loving relationship uses the same dialect as everyone else.
Uh.....Some people have about as much humour and understanding as driftwood. :bored:

In every close relationship there are inside jokes and the real meaning of these can be understood only by the insiders. I'm quite sure that Marcus loves his mother and use the language they are used to.
At least we can say that Marcus doesn't calculate beforehand what he'll say or not in the house to gain some popularity. There is no need for that, he is a Legend.

My dad burst out laughing but I missed him actually saying it.
If she's used to him, she probably won't take it that badly, he's probably always called her that/joked around like that...

How do we know that he hasn't called her that at home before?
I wouldn't speak to my mother like that but if they do then live and let live.

I'm sure he said it in jest and that he loves his Mum. I'm not a fan of Marcus, but can't believe he meant that.

The fact she was there and interviewed on bblb shows the real relationship.
Might not be something i would say, but like his mum said"he is a naughty boy"
The fact she was there actually shows that Channel 4 is still prepared to spend SOME money on the show. How DARE Marcus call his mother out for not being out at work when he is dossing around in the BB House for getting on for three month. His mother WAS working, she was appearing for a fee.
I doubt she would have come for any other reason if he treats her the same way in real life as he pretends to treat her from the safety of the house. He is so false, does he even believe his own hype?.
I actually think it was in jest when he said she was at owkr? OH MY GOD YOU GUYS CANNOT GET ANY JOKEES OR SEE HUMOUR! ha ha ha ssssssssakes!
NO!!! REALLY? Was it a joke? And I was SO serious!:laugh::laugh::joker::joker::joker::joker:: laugh::laugh::laugh:

Laughing my ass off at all teh puritans on here who are judging Marcus and his mums relationship based on their parent/child experiences...."oooh I'd never call my mother that" etc etc. All puffed out chests and mock outrage. Is it so beyond your realm of understanding that some parents and children DO have very close, friendly and jocular relationships?? What is acceptable to them may (obviously) not be acceptable to you, but if you've seen Marcus's mum on BB and BBLB, how can you fail to see the woman loves him very much, has a great sense of humour where Marcus is concerned (esp the "naughty boy, naughty man line, which made me laugh cos it sounded like she was taking the piss out of him), and is very comfrotable with the relationship they have. Christ they live together! There must be a great deal of warmth and affection there for that to be the case.
So, off your high horses before you fall and break your necks!
it was very obviously a term of endearment...

Hmmmm, they occupy entirely separate parts of the same building. If you call this 'living together' then yes, they do.

you should hear some of the things my OH and her ADULT son say to each other, and there is NO DOUBT in MY mind that they LOVE each other to bits, they are more like best friends than mother and son, there is NO "disrespect" between them AT ALL, in fact they "joke around" with each other and sometimes say the most shocking things to each other IN JEST, BECAUSE their bond is so strong,
and I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that the same thing is true of Marcus and his mum,
but HEY the "high n mighty" of the forum think THEY know how their relationship is...NO, they seem to think they have the RIGHT to dictate how it SHOULD be, how bloody DARE they

I think Marcus was pretty pleased that his mum had been involved in one of the tasks. Could you not see that Marcus had a beaming smile on his face? As for the calling her a mingebag and what not, it was all said in jest and I'm sure he loves his mummy.

The abuse some women accept from their husbands never ceases to amaze me!
Long Run, I sincerely hope you are joking because if not, your attempt to insinuate that I am in an abusive relationship offends me more that anything Marcus could ever say in one of his sweary rants. :nono:

I like the egotistical self-naming you've indulged in, the username suits you down to the ground. Unfortunately the fact that you see Marcus as "controlling and manipulative" and a candidate for domestic violence is so far removed from reality that it renders your points humourous at best. I'd bet quite a large sum of money that Marcus's previous girlfriends would not use either of those two words to describe him. Call it womens intuition

better get to get sued. continue you BS please
With pleasure! I have a longer memory than you obviously! I know what I have seen and heard - and I know the tell-tale signs! If people choose to behave in a certain way on public television - then they lay themselves wide open to criticism!
The amount of verbal abuse and absolutely libellous allegations made towards other hms such as Bea, Sophie and Noirin far exceed anything I have said!
Don't try to intimidate people with threats of suing when you obviously don't know bugger all about it!
