It's completely obvious that she's playing up to the cameras, and also to the other HMs so that she becomes the helpless ickle girl of the group and slips under the radar.

but i don't even think its about cleverness, other than the fact she's acting dumber on purpose (i had to say it!), living in the world you have to have absorbed some knowledge, knowing bits and pieces doesn't necessarily equate to being a genius!
