View Full Version : What happened to the days when stealing was bad???

sophie = thief (she steals food and booze and has done all the way through it)
Charlie= thief (he has also stole food and booze from the start)

Now it was'nt even 5 years ago that stealing a fellow housemates stuff was a complete suicide action and would cause housemates and us to hate them.
But now lisa and david(who would flip if marcus stole a can off them) ignore this and go on a siavash and marcus attack??sophie does not even think she is guilty because she shared it??Instead of saying sorry she thinks marcus is wrong??
Am i mad but are some people watching in another dimention? How the hell can marcus haters twist facts into a reason to bash him??
I read open mouthed in disbelief at some of the replies we get here.
I post "sophie stole drink" (FACT!)expecting "yea she is naughty") from her fans at the very least.
But i get "Marcus is a wankedy fukwit mingbag"
Funny thing is the poster is acting more like marcus then sophie :laugh::laugh::laugh:

obviously some people relate to her actions maybe because they condone her actions because they're thieves themselves.

these people would probably steal of their own mother and not give a damn as long as they benefit from it.
Tis a sad world we live in.

no one can defend going into someones drawer and stealing things.
Can you imagine nicking ciggies off Lisa?

If it had been Siavash that snuck into Charlie or Sophie's drawer and stole their stuff you'd never hear the end of it from their fans but because it's the other way around they just dismiss it like stealing is nothing and it's not wrong.
Charlie kicked up a massive fuss just because someone picked up a towel that was somewhere near his bed and used it but thinks nothing of actually going through someone's possessions and stealing some of them.

Thieveing, dishonest, lying scumbags!

The concept of 'ownership' is a social construct. It depends on the morals of the society in which it operates. The BB House is more akin to a collective where goods are commonly owned and shared according to need. Most of the HMs accept this structure. However, Marcus who sees himself as a feudal Lord chooses to see ownership as a tool of power. That the internal 'laws' of the house reject his perspective is clear.

Don't measure BB House by the dominant ideology of capitalist Britain, because it is actually a subculture which dances to very different tune.

I do think it's a poor show of morals. If Sophie DOES win the 100k now, I will be pretty disgusted. But hopefully "Thieves never prosper" will hold true.

WRONG! Freddie took the towel and put it in the laundry, he didn't use it.

Charlie had specifically put the towel in a place where he intended to retain it. Towels were not a shortage good and there was no competition for that resource. Completely different concept from a communal good which was a limited resource being hoarded by an individual as a tool of oppression.

This aint Lord Of The Flies,
when Lisa is handing out roll up then it'll be ok to steal it off her because she'll have too much power?

There is something to your claim. However, it is quite plain that the Housemates have established certain conventions, which are effectively lines that a person should not cross in the House. Just looking at the way the thieves have gone about their business indicates they know they are up to no good and that they are contravening the conventions and simple fair play.

On that basis, I think your framing of the situation should be rejected.

I think the majority rejection of Marcus's pretence at affront tells us all we need to know about what the dominant view of this is. They have 'gone about their business' in a very dramatic and pointed way to demonstrate their rejection of Marcus as overlord.

You aren't half spouting a load of bollox this morning.:laugh3:
Were you visited by the ghost of Carl Marx or Lenin during the night or something ?

Since when has a can of cheap cider been classed as a "tool of oppression".
I hope you read your mornings posts back when you've woken up properly and feel really emabarrassed by them.

Talk about pretentious!:bored:

I do not think there is much in the way of evidence to support such a notion. Craving for alcohol would seem to be the main motivation from the evidence of this and previous weeks.

So most of the housemates accepting this structure are ... everyone who wants to make it ok to take anything they want at any time, as nothing belongs to them individually in the first place?

So if this structure is widely accepted as the norm within the house by 'most' of the housemates why then do they have individual requests when it comes to the shopping list?

What you are saying is it is ok to have a commune attitude when it suits your favourites.

Biggest load of crap I have read on these boards.

I agree with your general sentiment, Becker. Further, Long_Run's proposed analysis of the situation does not really find any support in the freely available facts relating to previous relationships and events in the House.

I agree with you and trust the stealers dont win as I would not be happy if one of them was selected to represent us in any way.

sadly we are already looked upon as booozy britain and documentaries showing girls flat on there backs whilst intoxicated.

I was absolutely:shocked: when I saw the latter.
